2. Feelings?

When I wake up I am lying in my bed. When did I go to bed? The last thing I remember is Calum holding me. I guess he carried me in here when I fell asleep. How did he carry me? I'm pretty heavy, in my opinion.

I get out of bed and go into the bathroom to take a quick shower. When I get in I wash my hair and my body, shave, and brush my teeth when I'm done. Not in the tub of course. After, I go to my closet and find something to wear. I pick out a pair of black shorts with a white tank top. I don't normally dress up nice, I just wear whatever.

"Good Morning, Violet." Our maid, Marion, says as I walk into the kitchen. She had food out on the table and Calum was sitting at the end of the table.

"Good morning, Marion." I say and sit down on the opposite end of the table. "Good morning, Calum."

"Good morning." He says and i notice the dark circles around his eyes. He looks so tired. When did he go to sleep last night? I hope I didn't keep him up when I had that small breakdown.

"Violet, your mother is calling." Marion says. I look back and she has the phone up to her ear.

"I do not want to speak to her." I snap. My mother has never been there for me and she's missed the first 18 years of my life. She's been trying to cut back into my life for a couple years now. It's really frustrating.

"She says it's really important." She says and hands me the phone. "Please, just try."

I sigh and put the phone to my ear. "Hello?" I can already hear her now, telling me how bad she feels and how she wants to come comfort me. It's all bullshit.

"Violet, sweetie. I'm coming to see you tomorrow. You must feel awful." My mother tells me.

"Actually, mom, I don't think that's a good idea." I say and try not to be harsh. This women just makes me lose it sometimes.

"Oh come on, I'm sure you don't need to be alone with that maid of yours. You have no one there to keep you company." She says and I can here the rough tone in her voice.

"I'm not alone." I Argue. "And I really do not want you here."

"Are you at least going to lighten up and not hate me, I don't even know what I did to you. What's your damage?"

"You ditch me when I'm 2 years old to go work as a stripper and you're asking me what my damage is?"

"When are you going to let that go, it wasn't even a big deal. Chill."

"Chill? Mother are you stoned?"

As soon as I ask that question the room gets quiet and I forget they hear me.

"No, I'm just saying that holding onto the past won't make the future better."

"Bye mom, I have to do things today."

"Bye, Love you. I'll be there tomorrow."

I hang up and hand the phone back to Marion. "She's a difficult person to talk to."

"I know, Sweetie, I know." Marion nods and puts the phone back on the hook.

"She's coming tomorrow and I'm not prepared. She's probably going to be high too." I sigh and look at Marion. "Why can't you just be my mom?"

"I've raised you since you were 4, I think I already am." She grins and pats my back as she walks into the living room.

I laugh and look at Calum. "You look tired. Did I keep you up last night?"

"No, no. I was just up thinking. Im not that tired though." He shakes his head and looks around. I swear he looks just like someone I know, I just don't know who.

"Do you want some coffee?" I ask. "It'll wake you up."

"No, thanks, I'm fine."

Marion comes back into the kitchen and stands beside me. "Mr. Hood, someone is here to speak to you."

Calum says nothing as he gets up and follows her into the living room. I get up and peak inside to see who it was, but Marion was standing in front of them. When she moved, she came into the kitchen and made me sit down.

"Violet, I have a question." She says and sits next to me. "If you don't mind me asking."

"What is it?"

"Do you have the hots for Calum?"

My jaw drops. "Uh, why would you think that?"

"Because I saw you two on the balcony last night. Plus, you always look at him a certain way."

"Marion, you're f-funny." I stutter and try not to say anything. Yeah I think Calum is really attractive and muscular, but I don't have the hots for him.

"Violet, I know you're lying."

"Ok, so he's really attractive, why?"

"Well, tomorrow I'm not going to be here, so you should try something." She winks.

56 years old and she's still making jokes. "Wow, Marion." I laugh.

"I'm just saying, if you want it, go for it."

I focus on her for a second and sigh. The door closes in the living room and Calum walks back in. I try to act like we weren't just talking about his muscles. They're nice though.

Marion stands up from her seat. "Violet, im going to the store." She winks so only I could see. "Just getting some necessities, do you need anything?"

"No, I'm fine actually." I say and grin as I watch her get her purse and walk out of the front door. It gets quiet and I think about what Marion said, if you want it, go for it. I really want to...but what if he doesn't feel the same? I shouldn't even be worrying about this, my dad just died. Well, he'd want me to be happy and not be sad all the time. This keeps me from being sad.
