2. Chapter 2

Age 13

I guess I should tell you what happened since then.

Well, I’m now 13. I’m basically best friends with Austin, since we’ve been hanging out so much since he has to teach me every instrument known to man. I now know how to play the drums, piano, flute, guitar, ukulele, harp, violin, cello, bass, he taught me to use a bass board, and to widen my voice range.

Christina’s basically famous now, because of my songs. I can’t watch t.v. now without seeing her on the news, “Christina Perri, new rising star of all the charts!” That’s basically my life now, so lets get back to the story.

*****

I straightened my song lyrics before beginning.

“I wanna go back, forget that it's over

Paint it in black, when you left me alone

And I never knew, he was sleeping next door

With the girl I grew up with, and I can't go back to her

Anymore.”

“You tell me you were happier with them, but you want me to stay

And you tell me that you needed time but you pushed me away

But when you try to take me back, my heavy heart just breaks

No, I can't lift the weight.”

“Put you in the past, try to forget you cause it's over

And every time you ask, I'll pretend I'm okay.

You’re inside my head

In the middle of the night when I don't feel right

I dream I can hold you, and I can't go back to you anymore, yeah, yeah.”

“You tell me you were happier with them, but you want me to stay

And you tell me that you needed time but you pushed me away

But when you try to take me back, my heavy heart just breaks

But, I can't lift the weight, and I can't lift the weight.”

“And I can't lift the weight, no I can't lift the weight

Yeah, you stand on my shoulders and my heart just breaks

And I can't lift the weight, no I can't lift the weight

Yeah, you stand on my shoulders and my heart just breaks

And I can't lift the weight, no I can't lift the weight

Yeah, you lower your standards and I raise the stakes

And I can't lift the weight, no I can't lift the weight.”

“You tell me you were happier with them, but you want me to stay

And you tell me that you needed time but you, you pushed me away

But when you try to take it back, my heavy heart just breaks

But, I can't lift the weight, and I can't lift the weight

You tell me you were happier with them, but you want me to stay

And You told me that you needed time but you, you push me away

And when you try to take me back, my heavy heart just breaks

Say someday you will change, but I don't wanna wait.”

“Good America. But try a more happy song, I feel depressed, not happy.” Austin laughs and I grimace.

“I have one happy one, but it’s on guitar and drums.” I said as I switched instruments and and sat at the drums as Austin sat at the guitar seat and I gave him the music.

“I used to wanna be, living like there’s only me

But now I spend my time, thinking bout a way to get you off my mind

I used to be so tough, never really gave enough

But then you caught my eye, giving me the feeling of a lightning strike.”

“Look at me now, I’m falling

Can’t even talk, still stuttering

This cloud I’m on, keeps shaking

Oh, oh, oh, NOW!

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

Everybody’s tryin to be a billionaire

But everytime I look at you I just don’t care cause

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you.”

“I used to run around, I didn’t want to settle down

But now I wake each day, looking for a way that I can see your face

I’ve got your photograph, but baby I need more than that

I need to know your lips, nothing ever mattered to me more than this.”

“Look at me now, I’m falling

Can’t even talk, still stuttering

This cloud I’m on, keeps shaking

Oh, oh, oh, NOW!

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

Everybody’s tryin to be a billionaire

But everytime I look at you I just don’t care cause

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you.”

“Look at me now, I’m falling

Can’t even talk, still stuttering

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

Everybody’s tryin to be a billionaire

But everytime I look at you I just don’t care cause

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you

All I wanna be, all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah

Is somebody to you.”

“There we go. That was the energy I wanted. Too bad you have to give every song you write to Christina.” Austin frowned.

“Not this one. Actually not most of them. I keep a secret journal under my bed.” I smiled at him, but he was frowning.

“That’s not good, America. You know you could get punished for that.” Oh yeah right. The last time I got punished was when I tried to escape, but Austin doesn’t know about that.

“Look, I’ll show you.” I walked over to my bedroom beside my studio, crawling under my and grabbing the makeshift journal I made out of sheet music papers and staples.

Secrets, See You Again, Soldier, Someday, Look At Me Now. Jesus America. What’s with all the S’s?” He tsked, scanning them.

“I guess it’s just my lucky letter.” I shrugged. He looked over one again before handing them back to me.

“Those are really good, but you have to be careful, America. I can’t let my little bear get hurt.” He smiled, pinching my cheek.

“I love you too. So what’s the song you’re giving to Christina this time?” He asked, starting to tune the guitar.

“It’s called Bluebird. I didn’t really like it, doesn’t describe me.” I shrugged, standing up to give the song to Christina.
