Tale Weaver's Top Tens: Henchmen

Behind every great villain, or rather in front of them, are the henchmen. While the villain of the show laughs manically, they do half if not all the work, and when a hero needs to get to the villain, then they get mamed, or killed to protect their boss. Be it a right hand man or an expendable minion, with an good personality or just straight up iconic. They don't seem to get as much attention as their evil masters, so today I'm going to countdown the best of the 99% that help make all evil plans possible.

(Mario &Luigi RPG)

Don't know who Fawful is? Then Let me tell you his tale. A long time ago in the world of Mario RPG, there lived a little toady serving a witch in the neighboring Bean Kingdom. He had crazy gadgets, a brilliant mind, spoke in Engrish, but most of all, had FURY and CHORTLES. Then one day his master simply took the voice of Princess Peach and those pesky plumbers beat poor Fawful up and killed his master. After a game of plotting his vengeance, he finally unleashed his fury of the Mario Bros. and took control of the Mushroom Kingdom. Then obtained ultimate power from the Dark Star to become a full embodiment of evil and finish the Mario Bros along with their rival Bowser. Unfortunately the combined power of the brothers and Koopa King obliterated him out of existence.

This choice is more personal if anything, but still stand by my choice as Fawful being one of the greatest henchmen. Part of what makes most of the henchmen on this list are their quirks and impact they have to the general audience. Fawful wouldn't be so well known to just anyone, but in the Mario/Nintendo fandom, this little guy was had quite the impact. And it's no wonder. Fawful is just so damn entertaining to watch. Everything he says oozes a concoction of melodrama and comedy with a touch of food analogies. Mixed with his slurring Engrish dialogue and tenacity, he's just hard to ignore.

Even after his Master, Cackletta, was killed off, he spent years trying to think of a way to get back at the Mario Bros. Unlike, say, Star Scream, Fawful does become more than someone's lacky and even has his own henchman, Midbus, to boss around. That's what I like about Fawful. As a henchmen he is able to persevere and become his own boss and hatch his own evil schemes which are pretty effective; until he, you know, dies.

If you want to see more of Fawful, however, I highly recommend you play either Superstar Saga or Bowser's Inside Story for more chortles.
