Tale Weaver's Top Tens: Henchmen

Behind every great villain, or rather in front of them, are the henchmen. While the villain of the show laughs manically, they do half if not all the work, and when a hero needs to get to the villain, then they get mamed, or killed to protect their boss. Be it a right hand man or an expendable minion, with an good personality or just straight up iconic. They don't seem to get as much attention as their evil masters, so today I'm going to countdown the best of the 99% that help make all evil plans possible.

Henchmen 21 & 24

(The Venture Brothers)

These guys are THE henchmen. These guys practically live the dream any comic book fan would want to have witnessing all the action going on between heroes and villains. Working for The Monarch's Fluttering Horde, they both have the uncanny ability to be expendable yet useful despite their low ranking among the other henchmen. Their dumb luck and pop culture knowledge has helped keep them alive in over a thousand missions and have even went toe to toe with the mighty Brock Samson multiple times and lived. Anyone who can survive the mighty Samson has to get respect there. Unfortunately dumb luck can only take one so far as 24 died in a car accident, I mean, car intentional no one could have foreseen. All because he wore his seatbelt.

This was not the end, but the beginning of 21's training to become the ultimate henchman. He honed his skills and strength so he can become the killing machine he needed to be to find and kill 24's murder, and to make sure no henchman under his control would die again. Even Brock Samson was impressed by 21's new strength, even be able to hold his own in direct confrontation with the killer of henchmen.

Even though 21 is the survivor of the two, he remains as a main character of the series. He's still the geeky character we first saw, but now with the ass-kicking power any henchman aspires to have.

So why? I've already denied the Minions the number one spot, put Harley Quinn at number two, so why them? I could say their hilarious. I could say they steal the show. I could say 21 kicks ass. But no. The main reason these two are the best henchmen, PERIOD, is because they are like anyone else. They wear spandex and fake wings, but underneath those masks, Gary is a passionate nerd, and 24 is your average white collar worker. As henchmen we really see how the live as goons, what they think, how they feel, and they're just like anyone else. Two buds who share a common interest and get minimal pay from a butterfly themed super-villain bent on getting revenge.
