Chapter 17...

"Scarlet?" A nurse asks.

Luke and I stand up, and follow the nurse, still holding hands.

I look up at him and he gives me a small smile and squeezes my hand.

"I'm right here with you." He whispers to me.

The nurse let us into the room, and she weighed me and measured me.

"Can you take off your sweatshirt so that I can take your blood pressure hun?" She asked.

My eyes went wide.

"I don't have anything underneath it." I told her.

"Can you roll up your sleeve?" She asked nicely.

"Um- I don't think it will go up far enough." I lied.

"I have to take your blood pressure sweetie." She told me.

I stared at Luke in fear. What if the nurse asked me to show her whats under my bandage?

"Um... Okay?" I said. I rolled up my sleeve on my right arm, hoping it would be okay.

"Thank you dear." She told me.

"Wait. Its too tight, let me fix it." I said talking about my sweater.

It was truly too tight and cutting off my circulation. I rolled down my sleeve and took my arm out of my sweatshirt, my bra and stomach was exposed, but Luke saw me topless today, so whatever. I still felt extremely insecure.

She continued on and got my blood pressure.

"Thank you. The doctor will be in to take you to the Xray machine shortly." She told me.

I nodded and put my sweatshirt back down. She left and closed the door behind her.

"Thank god." I mumbled.

"Why didn't you want her to take your blood pressure?" Luke asks me.

"Uh... I don't like it done?" I said, it sounded like a question though.

"Oh, okay." He tells me.

"I've never had an Xray done before." I tell him. "Does it hurt?"

"Really? Never? But no it doesn't, they will tell you to hold something or put something on and it's a little heavy but thats it. They're really only taking pictures of you." He told me.

"Oh okay... Will I have to take off my clothes?" I ask.

"Um... Yeah. They'll give you a hospital gown to put on and you have to take off everything but your underwear and bra. Unless your bra has metal in it. Pretty much anything that could have metal in or on it has to be removed. He told me.

"Damn, it does." I mumble. I start to panic at his last comments. My bandage will have to come off.

"Yeah, like under the boob holder part. And then the clips at the back are metal too." I told him. "You didn't know that?"

"Well I never really thought about it." He said.

"True." I say with a shrug. "If your gig isn't until tomorrow night what will we do until then?"

"Um... I don't know. Chill on the bus? Maybe go out somewhere? I don't know..." He says.

"Okay." I say.

I let my eyes wonder around the room and I saw many posters advertising what it's like to be in good health. Bunch of lies to be honest.

I heard the door open. I looked up and saw a large man holding a clipboard. I stared at Luke in fear.

"You both can come with me. I'm dr. Leander by the way." He said. He seemed nice but then again they all did.

He walked out and Luke and I followed. I grabbed Luke's hand and clung to it. I could feel an anxiety attack coming on.

I leaned over to his ear, "Luke, anxiety..." I trailed off.

He looked at me as if I was going to die. He brought our hands to his chest.

"Can you feel me breathing? Breath with me okay?" He told me.

I nodded. We had to keep walking. I tried to breath with him.

"Your heart is beating really fast." I told him honestly.

"I don't want you to have an anxiety attack because I know how bad Calum's were. Now keep breathing with me, in.... Out.... In.... Out...." He said quietly.

I calmed down just as we got to the room.

The doctor opened the door for us and we stepped inside a long hallway, with lots of what I think are change rooms. He hands me a gown, "you can go into any of the change rooms, and I need you to take off everything except for your undergarments. If your bra has a wire in it I'm going to need you to take it off." He told me.

I nodded and grabbed the gown with my free hand.

I slowly let go of Luke's hand and went to a change room down the hall.

I took off what the doctor told me to and slipped the gown over top of my nearly naked body. I tried to Velcro the gown shut but I couldn't reach it. In defeat, I took off the pin holding my bandage together and unravelled my gauze. I inspected my wounds and they still look horrible. Well shit. They looked like I sliced my skin a hour ago.

"Luke...?" I called.

I heard footsteps coming towards me. They stopped and I saw Luke's familiar shoes outside of the curtain.

"Come in for a second will you?" I ask opening the curtain a smidgen.

He walks in cautiously. I hide my arm from him and turn my bare back to him.

"Can you do it up please?" I ask shyly.

"Mhmm." He hums.

I can feel the fabric closing and can hear the velcro coming together. I turn back around, facing him.

"Thank you, for everything." I tell him.

"No problem." He smiles.

I hand him my clothes and slide my phone into his pocket.

We both walk out of the changing room and the doctor smiles. I still hide my fresh cuts.

"Oh good, you're done. Scarlet I'm going to get you to follow me. You sir can wait here." He says nicely.

I follow the doctor nervously and he opens the door to a large dark room with a few machines in it. He tells me to stand in front of one in particular. I do so and the doctor goes to a computer and I can hear some typing. He comes back to me and is holding a dark blue rectangular piece of leather-looking fabric. He holds it up to me.

"So your going to take your right hand and lift it up put of the way on a 90 degree angle. With your left arm your going to hold this against your ribcage." He instructs.

I do as I'm told and he tells me not to move. He walks back over to the computer.

"And hold your breath for 10 long seconds." He tells me.

I count back from ten, and at four he is by me again, so I take it upon myself to breath again.

"Okay now I need you to turn and face me and hold the sheet up to your stomach."

Again I do as he says.

He reaches out and moves my hands upwards and I freeze in fear.

"There, hold it there for me, and hold your breath." He says walking back to the computer.

He comes back 7 seconds later and tells me to turn so my back is facing the large machine and to drape the sheet over my back.

I do so and he finishes with the Xray's.

"Alright all done. You can go and get changed and go back to the room you were in before. Go down the large hall and its the seventh door on the left." He instructs.

"Thanks." I say.

I walk out of the room and Luke is sitting on a chair. I continue to hide my arm from him. He stands up and walks towards me.

"You okay?" He asks.

"Yeah, he moved my hands so he could take the picture and I was scared shitless but nothing bad happened." I say with a smile.

Luke hands me my clothes and I go get changed.

I change rather quickly and go back to see Luke. We both walk back to the small room we were in before. We sit in our original spots.

"What if he doesn't believe my story? Or what if he asks me what happened and I freeze?" I spill out quickly.

"He will believe it okay? And if he asks questions and you freeze up I'll answer for you. Don't worry.

I nod at him. "Can I have my phone please?" I ask.

"I don't know..." He says.

I giggle a bit and he pulls my iPhone out of his pocket, he stands up and hands. It to me.

"Why thank you." I say.

I scroll through Instagram and a few minutes later dr. Leander comes back in.

"Okay so we have some good news and some bad news. Which do you want first." He tells us, getting straight to the point.
