"Calum will never love you," I told myself, as I brought a blade up to my wrists, slashing freely at it. Although the pain was excruciating, I didn't focus on the physical pain, only the pain in my heart. "Calum will never love you. Calum will never love you."

Rebecca's POV

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Rebecca," a voice called out.

Turning around, I groaned and politely asked, "Would you please piss off, Duncan?"

"Wow, did you actually just say please?"

"Yes, and please Duncan? I've been having a horrible day!"

Duncan walked towards me and threw his arm over my shoulder, I pushed it off.

"Don't touch me," I said, looking disgusted.

"No need to be feisty. Besides, what happened?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Umm... yeah. That's kind of the reason why I asked."

"Whatever, it's because the guy I like likes another girl."

"How would you know who I like?"

I stood there dumbfounded until I finally got what he meant.

"Shut up, and I'm serious! He means a lot to me!" I rolled up my sleeves, revealing my scars.

"Why, Bec?"

"Because I care!"

"Who is this guy anyway?"

"...Calum. Wait, why am I telling you this, you don't even care!"

"Well—" Duncan began, he was cut off my ringtone.

I pulled out my phone and checked the caller ID. It was Calum!

"Hey, Calum," I greeted after picking up his call.

"Where were you?" He asked.

"I just had somewhere to go, hope you didn't mind working the shift alone."

"It's fine. Oh, and Sam said yes!"

"I'm so happy for you."

"Something the matter? You don't really sound too happy."

"Well, anyways, I was hoping you can come to my house. My mates and I are celebrating. Now, by the way."

"Sure, see you then," I said and with that I hung up.

"Where are you going?" Duncan asked.

"To Calum's house."

"He's celebrating."

"The girl he likes agreed to go on a date with him."

"So? Things like these happen all the time."

"Apparently she got mad at him or something, but I helped him."

"Why? I thought you liked him."

"Well, whatever makes him happy makes me happy. Sort of... I mean I'm sad, but it's true."

"Whatever makes him happy makes you happy? God, you're so cheesy."

"Shut up." I punched his arm playfully.

"Well, have fun!" He began walking away until I stopped him.

"Thanks for concern and caring. You know, you're actually a really nice guy and I like that side of you."

"Whatever, it was nothing, and don't you ever say I am nice."

I chuckled, took off the boxing gloves I had on, wrapped one of my arms around his neck, and began walking with him.

"Don't touch me," he said in a mocking tone.

"Fine," I said, moving my arm away, knowing he didn't really mean it.

"No, no, put it back!"

"Ugh, Duncans sometimes."

I placed my arm back and rolled my eyes jokingly.

"So where you headed?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"My house?" He said, although it came out more as a question than a sentence.

"Not exactly what I meant, but—" I began, but I was cut off by someone.

"Duncan, will you help me get my cat out of a fence again?"

I turned my head to face the owner of that voice. It was a little girl who had on a light pink dress, a butterfly necklace, with no shoes.

"Uhh, w-what do you mean?" Duncan stuttered, looking back and forth between me and the little girl.

"Don't you remember? About two months ago, he tried to crawl under a fence and got his paw stuck, but you came in and freed him?"

"Nope, doesn't ring a bell."

"Come on, Duncan! I know you don't want to ruin your bad boy reputation, but it's just me and nothing's wrong with helping out a cat." I added.

"Fine, only because you guys are annoying me." He obviously lied, sighing as he followed the little girl, with me hot on his tracks.

Just a few seconds later, he had already saved the cat while I recorded it all on my phone.

"There we go!" He said, cradling the fluffy kitten in his hands before handing it off.

"Thanks, Duncan," the girl said.

"No problem, Kathy. Just remember to always yelp for help." Duncan said, flashing her a big toothy smile. "Well, see you later, Kathy."

"Bye!" Kathy said, waving goodbye, as she headed in the opposite direction from where we were going.

Duncan ran up to me and said, "You saw nothing."

"I may have not, but my phone did," I said, grinning. "And 'yelp for help', what is this? The Paw Patrols?"

"Shut up, you didn't!"

"Oh, but I did."

"Delete it."

"Fine, you left me no choice."

Out of nowhere, Duncan began tickling me, causing me to come crashing to the ground, squirming about.

"Duncan, stop!" I shouted, between laughs. "Stahhhp!"

"Not until you delete the video."

"Fine, I'll just do it myself."

Duncan dug into my pocket with one hand as he continued tickling me with the other.

"No!" I shouted.

"Toooooooooooo late."

"Ugh, you ass."

"You're welcome, I guess? Well, as much I would like for this to go on, I got to go."

"I should probably get going too, bye."

"Bye, talk to you at school?"

"Uh, sure."

"Ok, bye again."

I got up from the sidewalk, which I didn't even realize I was still on, because I got distracted talking with Duncan.

I headed to my car, then drove off to Calum's house or his 'crib', as he likes to call it.
