Greg came back to the bungalow; he wasn’t in a good mood when he arrived. He sat inside the car thinking how incompetent the hospitals were when it came to abortion.

Why did women have to suffer? Women had little choice when it came to taking precautions because men were sometimes selfish or drunk and didn’t like wearing a condom or were staunch catholics where it was deemed a sin to wear any form of contraception. Greg decided that enough was enough; he was going to ring Alan Blithe tomorrow. Blithe was the Local MP, Greg hoped that he would be man enough to brooch the subject in the House of Commons.

Ruth and Mollie were in the back garden when Greg walked in.

They were watering the plants and flowers they had planted. Mollie had helped Ruth build the cloche that she had now put over the lettuce seeds and radishes this would ensure that there was salad vegetables throughout the summer she had also planted courgettes, peppers, chillies, and cucumber in the green house. Once the courgettes were big enough they would be transplanted into the garden.

Greg went out to say hello and remarked on how good the garden now looked.

I do not need a gardener now he said; you and Mollie are doing a fine job.

“Are you hungry Greg, Ruth asked?

“Yes, I haven’t eaten anything since that slice of toast this morning.

“Good because I have cooked a roast and some vegetables.

“Did I tell you that you were marvellous he leaned over and kissed her?

“Give me a minute until we wash up then I will serve it up.

“It smells nice anyway.”

Greg set the table and then opened a bottle of wine; after the day he’d had he needed a drink. Ruth put all the vegetables into serving bowls then brought out the roasted beef.

Will you do the honour of carving the beef?

“Yes darling I will.”

Greg picked up the knife and carved some thin slices for Mollie then some thicker slices for Ruth and himself. Once the meat was carved the plates were passed around until everyone had something from each of the bowls. Then Ruth passed the gravy around.

I will have to teach you how to make Yorkshire Pudding Ruth; it’s traditional with Roast beef in England.

“Are you going to tell me about your day Greg?

“Yes, but lets not spoil our lunch.
