Jasmine by Moonlight

Two young girls on a caravan holiday meet two young lads from Whitley Bay.
One of them is a promising artist who works for his father who owns the rides in the Spanish City Amusement Park. This is a story of love and prejudice between a Multi millionaire Spanish father and the English Art Student. The father does not think that this man is good enough for his daughter, although he is married to a Scottish woman.

Wallace place had two gardeners who looked after the vegetable gardens and fruit trees. There was a forty feet by eight feet greenhouse where a variety of flowers, fruit and vegetables were brought on from seedlings.

The house had a cook and four maids who looked after the running of the house and the laundry.

Antony had a valet who looked after all of his needs; like his tailored suits, shirts, ties, and shoes. Every morning at six o’clock his valet Alan Napier would wake him up then organise his clothes for that particular day.

His shoes had to be polished to a high shine.

Antony was a stickler for detail and he would not accept sloppiness of any kind.

At dinner Helen sat with her mother who was pushed into the dining room in her wheelchair.

She sat with her carer and encouraged her mother to eat. She was eating less and less these days and Helen feared the worst.

“Jasmine, have you applied to go to university yet?

“Yes Papa; I plan to go to Newcastle University to study Archaeology.”

“Why do you wish to study at Newcastle Jasmine?

“I have been informed that it is the best university in the country papa.”

“There are a lot of archaeological digs in Segadunum in Wallsend; I plan to go there to explore the old Roman fort plus the old monastery in Tynemouth.”

“How long is this degree course; and will you be living in halls of residence?

“Yes papa, I will live in the halls of residence until my graduation. The course is four years starting in September.

“Two months away; you will have to visit your grandmamma in Andalusia before that Jasmine.

“We will fly over this weekend.”

“But papa, I; she stopped herself before finishing her sentence.”

“Do you have something you want to tell me?

“No papa I will come with you.”

“Good, good, that’s settled then; I will ask the maid to pack your clothes for you.”

“We will be gone for three nights before we return; I have business to attend to out there so you can keep your grandmamma company.

“Papa can I learn how to drive; when I’m at university everyone has their own car or motor cycle in order to get around.

“Leave that to me you will get a lesson every day for four hours per day until you pass your test; you can start tomorrow.”

“Thank you Papa.”

“I am going across to Sarah’s later is that alright Mamma?

“Alright but don’t be too late if you have a driving lesson in the morning.”
