8. Chapter 8- After School

"So then Luke fell off the bed!" Sydney laughs as Luke blushes. She tells me the story of when all four of them squeezed on Sydney's double bed, trying to watch a film. Sydney teases Luke and poked her elbow at him.

Luke peeks over at me, when his arms are taken by Martin giving him a Chinese burn, while Sydney and I are talking about where we should eat for lunch tommorow.

"Hey, where's Jasmin?" Martin questions, he looks behind us to see if she was just falling behind.

"Detention with Miss Jester." Sydney sighs, Martin wraps his arm around her shoulders. Me and Luke let them have a cute little talk. He comes and sneaks next to me,

"Hey, you glad I told them?" He asks, he smirks smugly at me, he punch him in the side of the arm.

"Hm, I didn't hear you? What did you say?" He puts his hand to his ear and laughs quietly.

"Ok! Yes! I am glad!" He points in another direction, and takes me to 'graffiti alley'. Sydney and Martin don't really mind that we've walked off from them, we weren't talking much anyway.

Luke takes me to the swings, surrounded by overgrown grass. Tiny daisy's were peaking out of the grass, reaching for the sunlight. I perch on the edge of the swing. Luke sits on the one next to mine.

"Where you gonna go shopping with Sydney and Jasmin tommorow?" He looks across to me and starts to swing gently. But his swings keep getting interrupted by the grass.

"Well, they want to go and get prom dresses. So we're gonna do that, it's gonna be awkward though." I admit, I hadn't gotten a prom invite. So I wouldn't be buying a dress, no matter how much I want one. And I want one a lot.

"I guess it is going to be awkward..." He takes the tie off of his neck and starts threading it through his fingers. I nod and he gets off the swing to walk in front of me.

"Go to prom with me." Luke demands, my heart stops. I can't do anything, blink, breathe, think, speak. I can't even think of how happy I am. I can't even tell myself to smile. It's like my body's gone on a mind blank.

When I get my body back in order, Luke is patiently waiting for my response. Butterfly's start to fly around my stomach as I prepare to answer him.
