Albert Phelps left twenty pounds with Alvin Willis his trusted engineer. There’s enough for a few pints each; I’m off home.

He ordered a taxi even though it was just up the road as he had all his clothes – some sheets and towels to wash. He didn’t fancy lugging three bags of washing up Tanner’s Bank. Kim from behind the bar told him that she’d ordered a cab and it would be here in five minutes. Albert went to the heads to relieve himself before picking up all his laundry. “See you guys early on Saturday morning.” Saturday they all voiced.

“Yes Saturday, I want to get back out there as soon as possible; we have fish to catch.

“Okay skipper they voiced as Albert left the bar. He slid into the front seat after putting his laundry on the back seat. The driver knew Albert and asked how his trip had gone.

“Very productive Andy, three days and we could of doubled our catch if I had of had a bigger boat.

“Wow, I never thought that there was that many fish in the North Sea.”

There’s plenty to go round for everyone as long as we do not get greedy and over fish the grounds.

It didn’t take long before the cab pulled up outside his house.

Lizzy came out and grabbed one of the bags as Albert paid the taxi driver.

He picked up the other two bags then went into the house.

“Must have been a good trip then pet was it?

“You better believe it hun’ he pulled out the cheque from his pocket and showed it to his wife.

“Bloody hell Albert; twenty thousand pounds that’s marvellous.”

Yes but don’t forget I have the harbour charges and the fuel to buy and then there’s the crews wages but we should still clear twelve thousand pounds.

“Do I get a treat said his wife with a sexy smile.”

“Are the kids at school?

“Yes we have an hour before I have to pick them up.” Better make the most of it then eh?

Leading her by the hand he went into the bedroom stripped off his clothes and took off his wife’s clothes before pushing her gently back onto the bed.

Billy waited at the school gates for his brothers and made sure they had their bags with their plimsolls inside before walking down from Coach Lane to the bottom which led onto Howdon Road. He saw his mother crossing the road so he hurried Alan and John along to meet her.

When the caught up with her she told them that their father was home and not to make a noise because he’s having a lie down and you know what he’s like when he’s disturbed.
