The Lads entered “The Wreck” public house and were welcomed by the locals who frequented the place. The only beer they sold was lager but the lads were not bothered as long as they were out on the drink.

Soon a game of three card brag got under way. Some of the local girls came over and asked if they could join us. Surprisingly they spoke good English. The lads were all buying them drinks. Albert was sitting on another table talking with Andy discussing the fishing grounds when in walked two women that caught Andy’s eye.

The women got their drinks then sat near to where Andy and Albert were situated.

The overheard the two men talking about their boats and got up and came over.

Are you two men captains of the two boats moored in the harbour?

“Yes Why?

“Because we look for work.”

 “What on a trawler?

No, no they laughed; in England.

“Would you be able to take us; we can pay?

“Andy nudged Albert under the table then winked.

“Well I’m going to Peterhead in Scotland; I could drop you there?

“Where are you going they asked Albert?

“I’m going to North Shields.

“In England?

“Would you give us passage?

“Well I don’t know; my boat isn’t as big as Andy’s

“So you are called Andy then?

“Yes said Andy with a smile.”

“What do you call your friend then?

“I’m Albert but my friends call me Al’

The woman who asked said “my name is Inga and this is my sister Elsa; can we buy you both a drink.”

“No said Andy but I would be happy to buy you one.”

“We are very liberated here in Norway, we pay our way.”

“As you wish then said Andy.”

“So you are the quiet one Al’ said Inga.

She like her sister was a natural blonde very slim and attractive Albert noticed.

“I’m anything but once you get to know me he replied.”

“I want to get to know you said Inga with a smile.

Albert blushed somewhat as he looked at Inga.

“You are a shy one Al’ I like that.

Andy came back from the bar with Elsa and the two of them were in deep conversation as they placed the drinks on the table.

Albert thought that Andy was at least ten years older than this woman but it made no difference.
