39. Kilo Chapter 39

Kilo kept going to the back door whimpering made no difference that Nelly assured him that Jack and Kate would be back soon. Even Tilly was missing them too. She went to the front window after climbed up onto the sofa and began to shout for Jack.
Come on Nelly said let’s go out. Nelly fetched their coats and hats before they left. Tilly wanted to walk but it would be hard to control both Tilly and Kilo at the same time so Tilly was put in her pram. Nelly gave her a cookie to eat to keep her quiet.
They were just walking out of the house when the postman Rob Smith handed over a letter like the last letter this one had an official wax seal.
She had the number of the hotel in Blackpool where Jack and Kate were staying but didn’t want to ring them on their honeymoon. They would be back in two days so what ever it was would keep until then she thought. Nelly was wary when she got back from walking the dog. She had gone round most of the shops in town not buying anything as the big American styled fridge that Nigel had bought Jack and Kate had kept the pork, beef, and ham from the wedding. There were also some pork pies and gala pie left as well. She made a small pan of soup for Tilly and herself. From some of the ham that was in the fridge.
Kilo got a bowl of soup too as well as his meat.
Nelly kept on looking at the letter that was placed on the mantle piece.

Sir Jeffery came into the Manor House gave his hat, stick and gloves to Meg his chambermaid.  “Where is Edward?
“He went on a fox hunt earlier Sir Jeffery.”
“Is he back then? Look where’s my butler. Harold!
Harold Watson came out from below stairs cleaning a glass.
You called Sir Jeffery?
“Yes have Edward come to my study when he returns from his fox hunt will you.
Sir Jeffery went up the stairs to his study where there were paintings of family ancestors on the wall. He paused to look at his late wife’s portrait. “Wont be long now my dear we will have our grand daughter back.
Sir Jeffery poured a large glass of whisky added a little water then sat in the large leather chair by the fire.
It was an hour later when Edward walked in to his fathers study.
“You wanted me father?
“Yes my boy, come sit with me. Pour yourself a drink.
Edward casually walked over to the drinks cabinet poured a glass of whisky then came and sat by his father.
“I have been to seen my lawyer this afternoon and he informed me that a summons has been sent for the Reamers to attend crown court next Wednesday morning.
“Your daughter will be home by this time next week.
