Jack could not contain his excitement and went along to the vet nary surgery where he told Nigel about Katie.
“Well you didn’t let the grass grow under your feet did you?
Jack was all smiles as he began telling Nigel how wonderful Katie is.
“I have news too Jack.”
“Has Gino arrived in England?
“Yes he’s in London for two days then is coming here on Saturday. Then you will have to bring him for Sunday Dinner. Katie is cooking a joint of pork with stuffing and roast parsnips cabbage and Turnip. There will also be Yorkshire puddings.
“Oh stop it Jack I’m salivating more than Kilo here.
“Will you come?
“Of course Jack, Gino and I will bring wine.
“Good then it’s settled, say twelve thirty?
“Shouldn’t be a problem Jack.”
“Great, right I will leave you to you clients.
Kilo waited by the door as he knew Nigel always gave him a doggy chew when he left.
Nigel Came out with a brown bag and gave it to Jack.
“What’s this?
“It’s for Kilo.”
Jack looked inside the back and there was a thick leather collar with a metal clasp then a little chain with a round brass disc which read “Kilo   The Colliery Cottage Cullercoats, on it.
“Just in case, he ever gets lost Jack.”
Jack slipped the collar over Kilo’s head it fit perfectly. When he walked the disc sparkled.
Thanks Nigel.
“It was one of my rich clients who left it when their English Bull dog passed. I had the cobbler make the disc to fit, ‘You like it don’t you Kilo. The dog rolled over for Nigel to stoke his tummy.
“Oh you big soft lad, Nigel stroked his tummy for a couple of minutes then the nurse came in to tell him that there was a client waiting.
“Duty calls Kilo sorry lad.
“Right see you on Sunday then.
Bye Nigel.
