7. Training (Part 2)

The Council remained in silence, Sophie held her breath and tried not to count the seconds that ticked by.

She'd just admitted that she couldn't remember her life before that year on the streets in the Water District, it was just a blank that left her with a pounding headache. The Council obviously didn't know how to react to this news so they just stared at Sophie with a blank expression, like they were deciding what she'd like best on her tombstone, or whether is was even worth wasting it on the little reject. The elf man decided to speak.

"Well, Sophie," He drawled, resting his head on his hand whilst looking at her. "I must say that you're in a quandary my dear and so, I cannot teach you any skills." The human woman and the other elf nodded and murmured in agreement whilst the dwarf seemed to grow furious at the words, he slammed his hand on the table and stood up, leaning over the desk to look at her.

"Sophie, I think this man is a Kigmoree Simposse and is an idiot for not taking you in!" He boomed, his voice strong with an accent that sounded like it was from the north, maybe the Fire District or even the Air District. But Sophie blinked at his words, they were kind, like she was being defended. She decided that she liked the dwarf. He started speaking again.

"You'll be under my wing, I will train you like many of our warriors have been trained," The dwarf cast a glance at the elves before continuing. "and you will represent my Clan if anything comes to a fight."

"Ja Rasgo." She smiled, then she was dismissed by the same flustered woman who let her in. The door shutting softly behind her, the dwarf soon stepped out after hearing some shouting from within. He looked slightly knocked about but he smiled at Sophie as they started walking down the hall, she had to slow right down because her legs were so much longer than his, he barely came up to her waist and she nearly patted his head for the temptation of it.

"You'll start training tomorrow or this evening, you choose but you're going to be living in our home." Sophie nodded and left the building, Jason was gone but she asked around and they said he'd already been told the verdict of the meeting and was waiting for her at his home.

Sighing, she walked through the market, dodging people and Creatures alike and keeping her head down. Jason was mad, she could tell and as she looked up to see Saturama sitting there with no red-headed male, she felt like crying. She'd felt comforted by him, she knew how to smile around him, he'd been attacked by her and still forgave her and now he couldn't even face her to say goodbye. Jason knew he would upset her, but it was what he thought was best. That if she didn't think he cared, then she could move on and maybe one day become a Rider, then he'd talk to her again and they'd laugh at the whole stupid episode. But part of him nagged that she wouldn't forgive so easily and when Saturama came in with the bag gone, his heart sank. Sophie hadn't even tried to see him/

And that was how they parted, two souls confining themselves to isolation and all because secretly.

They still cared.
