Another One of Those Poetry Things

7. Older Now

Older Now

Our youth was one of happiness and joys

As small, young toddlers we laughed and played

In truth, our only cares were games and toys

Oh, wishing now those carefree days had stayed

Then shooting up like growing flowers might

Adults, we’re stronger now, and wiser too

Experience gained, and thoughtful. Clearer sight

Oh, wishing now those vivid days weren’t through

But we are older, older, colder now

So tired, with limbs of cracked and heavy stone

So slow, we’ve withered - crumbled down

Oh, wish- But no, away the days have flown

And we are older, older, colder now

Oh, finally faded, gone. To God we bow.
