Lost Stars

“If you want to know, you might wanna sit down then.”
I didn’t question.
Once seated on the couch, he opened his mouth, “I murdered a man.”
I choked.

All over the world, there are mornings. But a morning in an incredibly expensive hotel -with shower curtains worth more than my entire life- mornings are like this whole new level of paradise, only better. Well, provided someone doesn’t wake you up…

“I swear to God I’m so sorry. I really didn’t want to wake you up, but it is gym time. And all my stuff is here, so I just had to-”

I lied. “Nah it’s alright. I was up anyway.”

Niall came in, putting his stuff in his bag. “Well, just so you know, I tried to check on Harry today. No show.”

I pressed my lips. “Hard luck.”

“Hard boy,” Niall edited. “So, what’s the plan? You have something to do the whole day?”

I shrugged. “Well, not really.”

He almost jumped around to my reply. “That’s just brilliant! You should come with me. To the gym.” I almost choked. “Gym? And me? Please no! I’m too lazy.”

He laughed. “Hahaha don’t worry. Me too. But all the lads will be there, so you can meet everyone!”

I smiled and shrugged. “Well...What the hell?”

Reminder to self: big hotels have gyms prettier than a Barbie Castle.

I had to try so hard to keep my mouth from dropping; it was a struggle. “It’s okay. I dropped my mine real hard when I first saw them too.”

So I dropped my mouth. Real hard.

The gym had a middle aged man, and about a couple of other boys. Their faces did seem familiar from posters and TVs, so I assumed they were from the band.

Niall clapped twice. “Yo peeps! Welcome the new salt, Diana. She is Harry’s friend. And Diana,” he took my hand and pointed to the boy with sleek blackish-brown hair tied in a pony tail, “this is Zayn Malik,” then he pointed to the lad with messy brown hair and hazel eyes, “this is Louis Tomlinson and here,” he pointed to the lad lifting up the weights, “is Liam Payne. In short, its Zaynie, Tommo, and Payno. And myself being Nialler. And of course, our mighty instructor Mark.” He pointed to the older man on our left, helping out Liam. All of the males said ‘hi’, and we passed along a sweet ‘good morning’ for each.

“C’mon now! Work out time!” Mark commanded. But Niall made a before stepping onto the treadmill.

I sat on a bench, slowly surrendering to exercise, if asked. Niall went, “Not really in the mood today, Jarv. Can we just jam?”

Zayn, wearing a vest and some sports shorts, agreed, “Yeah mate. Not in the mood today.”

Mark cried. “Zayn, you’re never in the mood.” Mark sighed and added, “Ok then, for the pretty lady’s sake. Jamming it is today.”

Niall told me while putting in a Katy Perry CD in the CD player, “Jamming is another way of exercising, Mark says. So we do that sometimes. You ready?” he asked for my hand.

“Sure!” I took his hand, and stood up. And so we jammed for almost about an hour, with little breaks in the middle.

And for what its worth, I would have never pictured myself dancing my ugly arse off in front of four millionaires.

“So, now what?” Niall asked while we were having breakfast. It was a beautiful table in the restaurant by the beach, and all the boys and me had showered and decided to eat together.

“God only knows. It’s just break day, so I guess we can do anything, except go out of the hotel,” Liam spoke. “Security rules,” he explained to me.

I nodded.

“Just a wild guess, but maybe we can all head to the pool and relax a bit, ” Louis suggested.

Nialler exclaimed, “You Tommo, have a brain of gold!”

For all the money they do own, I wouldn't doubt it if Tommo really did.

The pool was massive, with beanbags near the edge, and waiters just waiting to bring in martinis and tequilas for the guests. The boys had all dressed up in pool trunks, and headed for a dive, plunging in like a bunch of mad kids.

I decided to just sit by the pool, rolling up my pants and dipping my legs till my knees. Niall saw me and asked, “D, why don’t you join us here?”

Awkward. “Nah, its ok. You guys go ahead.”

He started water-walking to me, “No seriously! Come here! With more people, we can play tag here. Come in!”

This. Kid. Jesus.

I begged, “Niall. Honestly, its cool. Just go ahead.”

“I insist. We insist. Please please please!”

I refused. “I can’t… I’m sorry, I can’t.”

Niall just kept pushing, “OH COME ON! Please!”

Great! I'll just have to say it. Out loud. “I’m on my period, Niall!” I tried a mild whisper.

His face was inexplicable. He didn’t say a word.

Louis took in, “Forgive him. Ireland gave him a weird childhood. The rest of us come from families with a lot of women, so we get you. Just sit by and rest.”

I didn’t know if I should even be alive. I just wanted to kill myself, ‘coz hell. I did just shout out that I have my periods in front of COMPLETE strangers. Who were also billionaires, I might add.

Just brilliant.

Niall looked at Louis. “HEY! I get women, ok? I just didn’t think… I’m sorry, Diana.”

I forced a smile. “It’s okay.” As long as no one talks about it, I wanted to add.

Liam tried to switch topics. “So, what brings you here, Diana?”

“I don’t really know. Anne wanted me to help out Harry, but I don’t even what is wrong…”

All the boys looked away. Zayn said, “We could tell you, but it’s better if you here it from him.”

I didn’t like the sound of that.

Almost half of the day went by in the pool, lunch and then taking a tour of the massive hotel on Niall’s Segway. It was all fun, until we all were headed to our rooms, and all of a sudden, Harry’s door opened.

I stopped. So did my heart.

A much sober Harry stepped out in his pajamas, and said, “I’m sorry for yesterday. You want to come in?”

I nodded. I rushed right in, scared to be locked out. Again.

He asked, “You know why mum sent you here?”

“Um, no. You’re mum thought if she told me I wouldn’t come, so-”

He didn’t hesitate. “If you want to know, you might wanna sit down then.”

I didn’t question.

Once seated on the couch, he opened his mouth, “I murdered a man.”
