Lost Stars

“If you want to know, you might wanna sit down then.”
I didn’t question.
Once seated on the couch, he opened his mouth, “I murdered a man.”
I choked.

20. CHAPTER 20

The image of Harry taking a bullet for me was still a revolting thought. I didn’t know if I should thank him for saving my life, or scold him for risking his own. But on another side, Harry was a free man, Connor was caught, and with a .32 bullet and a flesh wound, Harry was my hero of sorts. I looked at Harry beside me, limping with one hand over my shoulders for support. We were walking down from the plane.

"Hey," he looked down at me. "I'm like your hero now." He smiled so wide, I just had to laugh. "Hah I suppose so." He nodded to that. That dork.

We walked a little more till I finally chose to break it to him. “You can quit limping now, Harry. You got hurt in the back, not in the leg.”

"It's all interlinked. Some anatomical-physiognomy blah blah. You won't understand. Hero science." He concluded with a wink.

I raised my eyebrows. "Oh yes of course of course. Nothing like Hero science." I nodded in a biased agreement, making him laugh.

Once seated in the car, I chose to start a conversation I didn't want to begin. "Harry," I gently pressed his hand that was over my shoulder, "Promise me you won't do anything like this again. Ever."

He looked down into my eyes, making me go outta my mind. "Diana I-"

"No. You don't understand how terrifying it was to see you bleeding on the floor like that. All I have ever done in my life is lost things: Family, friends, dignity, hope. Almost losing you-" I had to look away.

But Harry held my cheek and pulled me back to look at him. “Hey. I'm right here. aren't I?"

I smiled. He smiled.

"And if I have to take a bullet in my back to keep one from piercing into your heart, I'll do it all over again." I tried to speak, but he placed a finger on my lips to add, "I wasn’t gonna to lose you, Diana.” He kissed my cheek and added, “I only just got you.”

I smiled and pulled him closer, kissing him for all that I loved about him.

What was even there not to love?

He had a face as beautiful as a sunset, eyes as deceiving as an illusion, lips with the creamiest shade of pink and a heart as big and warm as the sun. Sometimes, I just like to sit back and wonder if he is God’s masterpiece. It’s said that everyone is imperfect, but with him, that statement stands flawed.

I took in more and more of him with each breath, the scent of his skin lifting up my heart. I ran my fingers through his hair, feeling the softness of his brown curls. He pulled me in tighter, a kiss turning into paradise.

And before we knew it, we were back home.

Home wasn’t home anymore. More like a party hell-hole. The banner on the front door read: “COME IN ONLY IF YOU HAVE A BIG BILLYWILLY!”

I shook my head, “I’ll fry their balls, I swear.”I tried to take it off while Diana laughed at the lads’ lad-ishness.

I took her by the hand and went in. Massive genitals or not, I entered anyways, Diana laughing at my entrance. “So you do have a big penis!”

I narrowed my eyes at her. “If you’re lucky, I’ll even let you measure it.”

She laughed hard. But I didn’t hear the end of it because as soon as the doors opened, the screams charged at us: “WELCOME TO THE BIGGEST STYLES EVER!”

Diana laughed while I let out a little smirk. “That sounded a little worse than I had imagined, but my point still stands: shut up. And lads, this is seriously breaking and entering!” I was astonished to see every inch of the room either covered in confetti, chips or shoes.

Liam raised his glass, “At least we are proud to be the only celebrities doing it!” The lads cheered loudly behind him.

I sighed.

I looked at my watch and said, “Ok, just till midnight maybe. A little party for you thirsty fucknuts.”

Everyone raised their glasses and beer bottles, screaming on the extremity of their voices.

This wasn’t going to be over by midnight. Nope.
