I Won't Speak

A suitcase. A mystery. A popstar. A selective mute. And a friendship everlasting.

23. Chapter Twenty-Three: Totally Not Lying

"Wha-" I broke off in a sudden coughing fit. "Did you jus- wha- I"

Lynn shook her head fiercely, pressing a small finger to her lips.

Again, I coughed. "Yeah- o-okay. Got it."

"What is it?" Harry said. I turned my head to see all three boys staring intently at Lynn and I.

"Um..." My eyes widened. "Nothing. I thought Lynn was gonna say something but... she didn't. And I choked. So, that's that."

Harry frowned. "You better not be lying to us again, Lou."

"I'm not!" I insisted. "Why would I lie to you? I have nothing to hide."

Liam raised his eyebrows, but said nothing, turning away and starting a conversation with Niall.

As I stared out the window of the van, something occurred to me. I smacked my hand to my forehead. "Writing!" I exclaimed.

Niall stopped talking. "What." He said, blinking slowly.

"Never mind that." I said. "Continue with your talking."

I turned towards Lynn excitedly, pulling out my phone.

Remember when you wrote that note down on the paper? I typed out. I forgot about that.

I handed the phone to Lynn. I trust you. Not them.

I blinked. What?

Lynn shook her head again, in a more dismissive way this time. Where are we going?

I pulled it up on my phone. retyping the address into Google Maps.

133 Portobello Road, Notting Hill

The driver of the van dropped us off in front of a hotel. "Good luck with whatever." He muttered.

"Thanks." Liam said, smiling warmly. The driver peeled out into the street, annoying several drivers and causing honks and curses to echo in the air of the warm Saturday.

"Where to now?" Niall asked.

"This bakery." I said.

"How do we even know that they'll be there?" said Harry. "We don't even know if 'they' are Lynn's parents. What are we supposed to do?"

"Head to the bakery." I shrugged. "Hopefully they'll be there."

"And if not?" Liam asked softly.

I opened my mouth, but couldn't give an answer.

"We're close." Niall said, grabbing the phone out of my hand. "Let's go."

A/N: I feel like I haven't updated in forever so I'm really sorry about that.
