A Universe Trapped in a Labyrinth

This is my boring and interesting and teenager life spanning from age 15 to 18 (May 2015-August 2018)
Within you'll find many re-inventions of myself, boy trouble, school trouble and life trouble. (Plus interesting bits I thought I would include as well).
Do you dare to enter the maze?

131. Applying for a potential dream job

Saturday 10th June 2017, 18:12

Since I discovered my love of books I've wanted to either work in a book shop/library or run my own. Working in one seemed like a more realistic concept and so my childhood brain latched onto it. Screw dreams of being a doctor or prime minister - although I wanted to be a vet at some point - I wanted to work in a book shop. I had a chance back in December but that got no where and I had a chance today, which I think got further than last time. My local bookshop is hiring, with multiple vacancies, and so I re-crafted my CV and took it down for the manager. I put on my best happy, glammed up face - actually taking an effort to do my makeup for once - and proceeded through a two minute interview. I was nervous as hell, I'm sure that showed through somewhere but it went well. I didn't break down or avoid it all together which is the main thing.

When I arrived there the tills were swamped with people so I took a deep breath and looked around, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, while waiting for the right time to approach. Finally I had an opening and I went for it, speaking to the manager directly which was nerve wracking. After the interview I was handed an application form and that's further than I've ever gotten with any job prospect before. I feel confident and hopefully I'll get the call for another interview in a couple of weeks.

Even if I don't, summer is coming up and there will potentially be many job openings that I can apply for. One of them will take me eventually and I am trying, so that's something.

If you don't succeed the first time, try, try again. That's my motto when it comes to jobs. I never thought I'd be an Ambassador and look at me now :)

If I can have that perspective, you can too.
