6. The tasks of a squire

At the castle the prince with the horses lived
And with the staff he worked
He should learn how to ride the horses in the stables
Soon he was best among the boys at the tables

The prince should now learn from a knight
He should learn how to fight
He cleaned armour he cleaned swords
He did it without any complaining words

He groomed the horse and the pony
He made their bodies all shiny
He changed the water he cahnged the food
He cleaned up so the horses felt good

Soon he should learn how a sword to hold
And use the axes, sharp and bold
He should learn how to aim with an arrow
And that without to bed to go

The prince had to learn how to talk
And how he should dance and walk
He had to learn the properly manor
And how to use the words like an arrow

Even though little time for fun he had
And he didn't have time for a nap
He did have time to see his friends
To laugh, to play and to train perhaps
