2. Chapter 2

As I stumbled through the cafeteria, almost tripping due to the number of kids in the same place all at once, I finally found Luke sitting at an empty table, focusing on some papers. Forgetting to grab unwanted cafeteria food (as Luke only had a bottle of soda sitting next to him), I moseyed to the table and took a seat next to him.

He moved his face from the papers and put all of his attention on me.

"So what did you need help with?" I questioned him with slight attitude in my voice. I will admit, I am the type to play hard to get.

He had the papers held in one hand, but he was still focused on me, "Well, it's just-I don't really-uh," I could tell he was agitated, the way his eyebrows pulled together like magnets.

"Listen here punk ass, I'm not here to waste my time!" I roughly snarled.

He gave me a look of anger, as his sweet character was painted red "And neither am I! I was just trying to get to know you better, but since you're an obvious bitch, I'm not sure I give a shit anymore!" he purposely dropped the papers on the table and began to leave his seat, revealing to me that he was pretty pissed.

My rude tone shifted into a softer one as blood rushed to my cheeks, "Wait, you actually find me interesting?" I gripped his wrist and pulled him back to the table.

He sat back down and looked at me with embarrassment,"I'm not a strait forward type of guy, but I noticed how intrigued you were by they poems we studied today, and I found that kinda cute," he gave me a shy grin, as he took a sip of his soda.

"Are you serious? Out of everyone in that class, you thought of me as 'kinda cute'?" I was in complete shock. No guy has ever thought of me like that. The fact that Luke found me attractive was completely insane. Judging by his appearance, he is way out of my limit, and a guy like that being seen with a girl like me would murder his social life. He is practically committing social suicide.

"Yes, I don't think need to repeat myself, Tatum," he teetered as his fiddled with the cap from his soda.

"Wow, I'm sorry for acting like a jerk then." I apologized with resent scattered in my voice, "Look, I'd like to get to know you better as well, but rushing things doesn't usually go well."

The bell suddenly interrupted our nascent conversation.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow, Tatum," he smiled once again, and I watched as he left the table and headed to his next period class.
