Something Wicked This Way Comes *ON HOLD*

Emmeline Walker was a normal girl who had no worries going to school with her best friend Georgie. She had loving parents and doting brothers, everything a girl could want. Then comes along the virus. People are dead and dying all over the world, and the world seems to end when Emmeline catches the virus and blacks out. When she wakes up, however, in a new world where the dead never really died, she learns that the virus wasn't the end of anything, but the beginning in a new world of horror.

This is a story about zombies, beware. :)

9. End of Part One

~~Emmeline's *POV*

I was stunned. How could this have happened? It was unheard of; of all the stories I had heard of others being bitten by the infected, none had survived. It was impossible, no medication or vaccine ever tried worked, and yet somehow my blood had.

After Shin and I had evacuated out of the Home Depot and we had managed to still grab the equipment we needed, we had made our way to the base with Deck trailing behind us. He had been barking to let us know that Twilight had gotten injured and was laying off a ways with a broken leg that he had gotten after being thrown from one of the Infected. He had flown through the air and hit a pole and his leg had snapped so we carried him to the base between us on a tarp.

When we had made it inside and situated Twilight in a makeshift sling so his leg wouldn’t heal incorrectly, we had rested for the night, contemplating the event in silence as our thoughts overtook us.

I had quickly fallen asleep from fatigue and when I had opened my eyes the next morning, Shin was collapsed on the floor with a fever.

I had quickly gotten up to take care of him and I watched over him with a gun always nearby, terrified he would open his eyes as one of those monsters, but in the end he pulled through. Shin had survived and he had not turned into one of THEM. When he fully recovered, he had come back even stronger and faster than he was before and during one training day it finally occurred to me.

My blood had healed him and made him stronger against the virus. MY blood was the cure. I was the cure.
