Such A Silly Game We Play

Leena is one of those goody-goody teenage girls who is obedient to her parents, maintains high grades in school, has an average social life, and zero night life. Even more, she's the usual shy-type, terrible at making new friends, and even more terrible when it comes to oh-so-cheesy relationships, which was surprisingly coming her way now.

With so many things on the line that could go wrong if she ever followed what she truly wants, will she ever have the guts to let it all out? Would the guy do the same? Or, would both of them just sit down and wait until some miracle happens?

3. Aim For What You Want

I definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Feel like crap. You know, the girl thing that happens every month. Oh god.

"SIS!!!", my sister Mary shouted as she went straight into my room.

"What the hell do you want", I said still face down on my pillow.

"Hey, you do know that today is your shooting lessons with Uncle Joe... and his son." She definitely emphasized those last 3 words.

"Well, GET UP!"

Then there was a moment of silence. God I hope she went out of my room. Then suddenly she took both of my feet and pulled me until I landed face first on the floor.

"HEY!", I said angrily.

"I told you to get up."

Older sisters. Irritating.

So, I got up. Took a shower, and dressed up. Since this was a shooting class, I decided to wear a plaid button down shirt over a tank top, some old jeans, and my leather boots. I still felt a little sore down their, but I kinda am excited to learn how to shoot.

I went downstairs to check if my dad was ready, and there he was waiting for me by the door.

"Alright darling, you ready?"

"Ready as i'll ever be."

We didn't go straight to the shooting venue, instead, we went to Uncle Joe's house first. And as we parked our car in their garage, I realized that we were switching rides.

"Hey Leena, we're using our SUV today, if that's okay?", Uncle Joe asked.

"Oh of course!"

"And i'll be driving", Jeff said as he stood pretty close to me. He seemed a little off today too. Wow, what the hell is wrong today?

"Woah, should I be scared?"

"Haha, don't worry Leena, you'll be safe", Uncle Joe said.

Jeff led me to the door at the back of the driver's seat, opening it so I could go inside. Wow, gentleman: Check!

We pulled out of the driveway and went straight to the venue.

The shooting field was pretty cool. It already had a lot of equipment and... other stuff that I am definitely not familiar with.

"Alright, ready to shoot?", Uncle Joe said while fixing one of his pistol gun thingy. Wow, I feel a little scared right now.

"Hey, be careful alright! I'll just go with the other guys. BEHAVE!", dad told me as he was preparing his gun. I just gave him a smile.

"Okay Leena, first you gotta know how to hold a gun", Uncle Joe demonstrated. Wow, you can really tell that he's an expert.

"So, the first important thing to remember is that: One, assume that a gun is always loaded. Don't be stupid and go holding the gun facing your beautiful face." Aw. Gosh, so sweet. "But I am telling you right now that this gun is DEFINITELY loaded."

Uncle Joe handed the gun to my left hand.

"Oh no, my dominant hand is the right."

"Oh sorry, now, hold it like how I should you a while ago." I did as he told me. "Now, use only your dominant eye, and close the other eye, you always have to depend on your dominant eye."

Damn, I feel so fierce right now.

"Now, extend your arms, and aim at the target." I aimed at a red dot about 50 feet away from us. "Look, once you pull that trigger, you're gonna feel a little force so you gotta stand firm like a man! Now as I count to 3, you pull that damn trigger! YOU READY?!", Uncle Joe screamed. WOW, he's really in the mood now.

"I'M READY ALRIGHT!", I yelled back. Wow, you know what, with all this energy and shouting, I feel a little better.

"ALRIGHT EVERYONE CLEAR!", Jeff shouted. He stood about 5 feet away from us, already holding his own gun. Then, Uncle Joe started counting.

"One!" Okay. Stand steady.

"Two!" Dominant eye, dominant hand, aim for the target.

"THREE!" I pulled the trigger, and felt a sudden jolt pushing me backwards, together with a loud bang. WOW. Talk about extreme adrenaline rush!

"Yeaaaaaah!" Uncle Joe and Jeff hugged me real hard, REALLY HARD.

"YEAH, THAT'S MY GIRL!", shouted my dad.

"You only hit the side of the circle, but hey! Nice for a first timer," Uncle Joe said, and as the usual uncle, he gave me a pat on the back. "Now you two keep practicing here, and I'll go with your dad." Then he immediately pointed at Jeff and said with a serious voice, "now, you take care of her."

Jeff made me do a second try, assisting me to get a better aim. I closed one of my eyes, with the dominant eye open, and aimed at my target again. And as he was talking to me, he was fixing my hands and fingers to properly hold the gun. It felt awkward though, for me. I wasn't used to having a guy, whom I just met a day before, touch my hands, in fact it was the first time. I looked at his face too, he was looking straight towards my hands, and then suddenly he looked at me and grinned.

"Sorry", he said with his shy voice. But really, inside my head I'm just like: 'oh no worries, hun, take your time.' HAHA.

"Okay, now don't move", he stepped back away from me. "We're shooting together!"

"What?! I--"

"I said don't move!" He shouted. "On three! One, two, three!"

WOW. Double the force, double the loudness! Plus, my hit was much closer to the center! Wow, he's good.

"Wow, you're good", i said and looked at him. Something wasn't really right with him, and I'm pretty sure he's hiding something. "Are you okay, Jeff?"

"What? .... Oh, ...yeah. Don't worry 'bout it", he said in a deep voice. "Go on, you can aim wherever you want."

"What, but I don't even know--"

"Just aim for what you want! It doesn't matter, if you want it, go get it. No one's stopping you."

Then, silence. Deafening silence.

"Woah, that's some deep shit you got there."

And there, he finally smiled. His warm and radiant smile suddenly lit up his gloomy face.

"So, what is it? School problems? Grades, friends, love life? PMS, maybe?"

He punched me lightly on the shoulder. "Ha-ha, very funny. Come on let's just let out all of our anger with this fucking pistol."

"Thaaaat's the spirit!"

And there we were, two shouting weirdos wasting away his dad's pistol bullets on circle targets and wooden dummies. Honestly, I have never felt so energetic and alive! Our dad's we're looking at us with a smiling face, but at the same time you could tell they were thinking: 'what the heck happened to our children?'. Then after a while, they got back to their serious conversation.

"I wonder what they're talking about", I whispered to Jeff.

He just shrugged his shoulders.
