7. Chapter 7

I blushed a little. “Well, I heard from Ryan that you are very respectful. He told me that you have liked me for a long time.” I glanced back at the little girl and Mayven just kept staring at me.

Mayven’s bright green eyes stared at me with bewilderment. “So, that little girl,” He pointed towards her laying on the couch. “Are you going to take her in?” He asked curiously, trying not to make me mad or upset. He seemed to be a bit anxious, as if he was trying to be patient about something.

I studied him for a moment, trying to figure him out, but I couldn’t. I didn’t know what he was hiding, but I felt like I had met him before. “Umm, I’m not entirely sure yet. I don’t think I have the patience, or time.” I admitted honestly. “I mean, I would love to, but I’m not sure that I’m fit to become a mother.” I took in a deep breath, and then the memories flooded back. Back to when I was just sixteen years old. I was deeply in love with a seventeen year old guy, who could fit the description of a well groomed twenty year old. He never told me his name, but only told me that he was seventeen. He had the looks of a rock star; extremely long black hair, thin lips, and insanely bright green eyes. He was the one I turned to for everything, loved endlessly, and I wanted to be with him forever. But all of that changed when I was pregnant with his child and my parents had found out by the pregnancy test that I threw away in the bathroom. They tried to literally kill him with a knife, but I stepped in the way, and they killed the baby instantly. I had immediately went to the hospital and they told me that I had a miscarriage. Since that day, I never knew his name, and never saw him again. I blinked my eyes a few times, and looked back at Mayven, who seemed concerned. “You are him…” I stood up, pointing at him with wide eyes. “You got me pregnant and then after the miscarriage, you left…” I sighed, still shocked that I didn’t realize it sooner. “Why did you leave me? When I needed you?”

Mayven stood up, clearing his throat. “I am sorry..” That was when he began to switch personalities. He looked more upset, the tears running down his face, and his voice got hoarse. “I’m so sorry, I just..” He turned to look at the wall to his right. “I was so young.. I just didn’t know how else to handle it.” He was being honest.

I walked over to him, putting my hand on his back, rubbing it gently. I didn’t want to fight, but it hurt me tremendously. I didn’t want him to feel as if I was going to hate him forever. “Look, Mayven, I know that you regret what happened in the past.” Mayvens eyes looked back at me, his muscles still tensed and he had tears running down his face. He looked very upset; his lips quivering but his voice remained silent. “Don’t think too much about it, okay?” I turned him around to where he was facing me and I looked at him straight in the eyes. “I still love you, as you do me. It’s okay. What happened between us is behind us. Let’s start over.” I offered, waiting for his opinion.

Mayven stood there, his arms outstretched towards me but not touching me. He was as close to me as he could possibly be. “I love you, Iris.” He was waiting for my approval. “I miss you, obviously. I would do anything for you, I swear.” He pleaded, over and over again.

I smiled, wiping the tears that ran down his face. “Don’t worry, okay?” I kissed him on the lips. “I love you, and I miss you. Everything will be perfectly okay.” I reassured him. I looked at him in the eyes, wrapping my arms around his neck. I pulled him as close as possible. “You are the only one that I need.” My smile was elegant.

Mayven looked back at me, a bit confused. He seemed to have something on his mind. “You forgive too easily.” He lowered his head, letting a tear run down his face.

Mayven’s Point of View

I knew that Iris was a very loving, devoted person. But for the most part, I did not deserve to have a second chance. I deserved to be lonely forever. Due to the fact that I had left her alone when she needed me most. She deserved the best, although I wish it was me, it wasn’t. She was too beautiful, on the inside and out. But she was too naive to let me go. I was good to her, but I didn’t deserve her, which was the reason why I left. I stared at her, the worry in her eyes made me want to mourn. I didn’t wish to put her through hell, but that was exactly what I was doing. She might not have seen it, but I did. She had been through hell and back all her life, without a break truly. She just deserved the best of the best. But nothing was good enough for her, nothing at all. She was like a supreme goddess among peasants. No one would be good enough for her, and I didn’t want her to lower her standards just to get attention. I half smiled. “You could do so much better than me.” My words shot pain through me as I spoke, even though it was towards her. I instantly resented that statement. “Goddamn.” I sighed, holding my temples with my hand. “I love you, and I need you. But you deserve so much better than a guy who does not even deserve to look at you.” My honesty was hurting her, but I couldn’t bear to watch.

Iris stared at me, longing to just be in my arms. “I don’t care what you don’t deserve. I’m here for you.” Her voice was shaking, and I knew she was crying. She immediately wrapped her arms around me so fast that I didn’t know how to react. She was so sweet to me, no matter what I had done to her.

One of my arms was firmly wrapped around her waist while the other was caressing the back of her head. She was so fragile, so pure. I smiled, loving the moment and never wanting it to end. But I knew that eventually she had to go home sooner or later. She was so beautiful, from the way she thought to the way she talked. I loved all of her. I wanted her to stay with me, be in my arms forever. But that was something that only dreams behold. She was a very strong, independent woman whom could just as well take care of herself without any problems. I was so fond of her, which is why I thought that she had deserved better. I was a man whom could and would kill for her, but I wouldn’t want to put her through that stress. I suddenly got lost in my own thoughts to where I didn’t notice that Iris was trying to get my attention. I blinked a few times, realizing that her hand was in front of my face, waving at me. She was worried for a second. “Yes, lovely?” My voice choked. For some odd reason, I felt as if I was going to cry. I smiled at her, “I love you.” I gently kissed her on the lips. My body was aching for her, in every way possible. My thoughts consisted of me and her in bed. I longed for the feeling of her body against mine. She was mine, and I needed her more than ever. My lips parted for a moment, then I forcefully shut them. Iris was a very beautiful woman, but the fact that it had only been a couple hours of seeing her again for the first time in years, that was what stopped me. I respected her, therefore I didn’t want to mess anything up. And I certainly didn’t want her to feel as if she had to have sex with me. But when I looked at Iris, she knew. She knew that I wanted her, but she barely showed any emotion towards whether she wanted it too or not. I stood there, examining her figure, how perfect she was. Her body was shaped like a perfectly normal woman; not too slim but not too big. She was literally the perfect girlfriend anyone could have. I was surprised that guys weren’t always marvelling at her. But then again, I wouldn’t be too happy about it, which is why most probably didn’t when she got here. I smiled at her again, sighing quietly. “I truly do love you.” My face flushed, not hiding my embarrassment from the fact that I had a hard on and was trying to hide it. It was a good thing that I was wearing jeans and not shorts. I rested my chin on the top of her head, wanting her to pull even closer to me. I wanted her to forget about the embarrassing moment I just had.

“I love you more.” She tempted. “You know…” She stopped mid sentence. “Nevermind.” She shook her head, pushing my shirt up and letting her hands roam free for a moment. “I love you so much.” Her voice shook a bit, as if she was about to sob.

I looked down at her, worried. “What is it?” I gently pulled her chin up and forced her to look at me in the eyes, but still she tried not to. “Tell me, please?” I sighed. “If it is some guy that is messing with you, or some problem you’ve been having with friends, or anything other than that, just tell me.” I urged. I had a strong desire to know what was going on, even though she probably wouldn’t tell me no matter how hard I begged. I walked over to the couch and sat down, looking at her still.

Iris seemed really concerned, but she was thinking. Thinking about something that obviously upset her. The tears ran down her face, as she slowly began to sob. In between cries, I heard “I…… Remember…. That girl….. You.” She stopped and began crying again.

Her words hit me like a ton of bricks. “Baby!” I got up, running back over to  her, and picking her up. I tossed her over my shoulder. “Come on, you have no choice but to let me carry you. I will show you everything. Because I love you.” I tried to smile, but I couldn’t. She was right. She couldn’t forgive me after the fact that I had cheated on her once with a lady named Lilly. Iris had caught me and Lilly in bed together, right after we had sex. I hadn’t intended on cheating on Iris, not at all. But it still didn’t make it acceptable to go ahead and cheat on the one girl that was as faithful to me as possible. I cheated on her because I was a greedy snob, who wanted more sex than Iris was willing to give. The real reason why I had picked Iris up and thrown her over my shoulder was so that she couldn’t see my tears. I couldn’t stop crying. I regretted every second I spent with Lilly that should have been spent with Iris. I wasn’t good for Iris in the past, but everything had changed now. I carried her out of the room and out to the back wall of the castle. I sat her down, pointing over to the tombstones that lay directly in front of me. One of them read "Lilly O'Neil, R.I.P. 3-12-1990." I glanced back at Iris, who was stunned. She didn't know what to say. "I wanted you to know that I did what I had to do. I made a big mistake by cheating, so I took it upon myself to take care of the situation. So I did." I half smiled, still looking at the tombstone. I regretted the way I took advantage of her. I bowed my head, remembering the shame that was bestowed upon me.

"I love you, and I forgive you." She gently grabbed my hand. "And I wont ever let you go... Ever." She stood there, smiling at what we were going to be. What she had always wanted us to be. She wanted this relationship to last forever, which was exactly what was going to happen.

"You are mine forever," I leaned over and kissed her on the lips. "I will protect you, and only you." I knew that Iris had loved me for a very long time, and I didn’t want to mess anything up anymore. She was my one and only, and I wouldn’t let anyone or anything ruin my relationship with her, especially when I have messed up in the past. I looked at her in the eyes, knowing that my emotions had consumed her whole. I wanted her to feel what I have felt for her; the obsession that I had come to love. I felt very fond of her, and if anyone was to mess with her in any way, shape or form, I would defend her in an instant. I would be kicking ass and taking names without hesitation. I smiled at the thought of me bashing someones head into the cement, and letting them bleed out. I wished I had a reason right now to just break necks. But I didn’t, and I wouldn’t want to worry Iris. I noticed that Iris was hugging me tightly, and before I could hug her back, she looked up at me and kissed me on the lips. It was unexpected, but energetic. I wanted this moment to last forever. Her lips were so soft, so perfect. Her body molded into mine, letting her arms flow freely around my neck. She was a very intriguing woman, whom I had come to want entirely to myself. I don’t know how I had even let her go in the first place. I wanted her so bad, my body was trembling just being this close to her. Hell, I was trembling just by the way she says my name. She made me weak, no matter what she did, or said, or how she said it. I was always falling even more in love with her, with every step I take. She just didn’t know the extent of my passion for her. I would kill for her, even kill myself if that meant that she would be safe. I would go to any length to make sure she would be okay, not just okay, but perfect. I knew that this was true love, the love that I had only felt once before.. When I first met her. She was the reason for my existence, the reason for my success. Without her, I wouldn’t be standing here. She stood up for me when no one else did, and I deserted her. Without any hesitation. It hurt me to think about what I had done to her, but this moment was the moment. The moment that I let everything go, no matter how hard it was. I let everything be in the past, and began to live in the present. I wasn’t worried about the future, because it would only be good with her in it. I smiled again as we stopped kissing. “I will always be here for you, my love.” My voice trembled. She always made me nervous, no matter how long I had known her. She still meant everything to me. With her, my mind and heart are one. I knew for sure that she was the one, no doubts filled me. I held her close to me, loving the moment. “You’re mine. If any guy messes with you, I’ll cut their heads off.” A smirk appeared on my lips, “I promise.”

Iris looked up at me, "That's nice of you. What should we do now?" She smiled politely, wondering.
