91. Chapter 91 : Road To Recovery

Helen's POV

It has been nearly a week that I got out of the hospital and Calum is still worrying about me. He's been watching me eat and he's even been watching me drink my medicine. I was standing on the counter reaching for a Chewie and Aslan's food when Calum walked in.

"Babe, what are you doing?" He exclaimed. "You could fall from there."

"Calum, I'm fine, I just need to grab the puppy's food," I replied. He easily reached past me and grabbed the food. I sighed. He helped me down from the counter.

"You have to be more careful, sweetheart," He said.

I turned to him and smiled before resting my hand on his chest, "Cal, I love you, I really do and I appreciate you worrying about me, but trust me when I say this. I'm fine. I am not hurt, I feel much better, okay?"

He nodded, "I know, its just, when you fainted, you scared me to death and seeing you in that hospital bed. It was hard to watch."

I stood on my tiptoes and tried to reach his lips. Calum noticed my attempt and chuckled.

"A little help here," I said.

He bent his head down and connected our lips together. His hands held my hips. I ran my fingers down his back. He lifted me up and sat me down on the island. I smiled to myself as I wrapped my legs around his waist.

"You know," He began. "You never gave me that night you promised to give me."

"Oh right," I said. "How about right now? Right after I finish feeding Chewie and Aslan."

"Deal," He replied.

I hopped off the island and Calum handed me the two bowls. I emptied the food in the bowls and set them on the floor. Chewie and Aslan scurried towards the bowls and began to eat. Calum pressed his body against my back.

His lips were next to my ear, "I love you."

I turned to him and brought him into a passionate kiss. In no time we were in our bedroom. I was pinned under his body on the bed. I ran a finger down his exposed chest.

"You're still so damn beautiful," He said.

"And you still know how to charm me even in bed," I smiled.

He captivated me in another kiss I knew, that if we ever broke up, I'd be ruined for sure.

"I'm hungry," Calum said.

I nodded, "Me too."

We both stared up at the ceiling. The sun was beginning to go down and we were still in a tangle of bed sheets. We've been in bed since three and it was already five.

"What do you feel like eating?" I asked.

"I kind of want Panda Express," He replied. "Do you want to go get some?"

I looked at him, "Why not? Let me first take a quick shower."

"Oh me too," He said. "Can I join you?"

I laughed but nodded.

We both stood in the shower. The water was cascading down our skin.

"It's too hot!" Calum complained.

I nearly slipped on the bar of soap, but he caught me. I burst out laughing.

"I got soap in my eye!" I said.

Calum laughed, "It's not funny!" I replied.

"Now the water is too cold!" Calum added.

"Stop complaining!" I said.

"Why can't we ever shower like those couples in the movies? Like with the steam and the romantic vibe," Calum explained.

"Because that's Hollywood, this is real life. Plus actors don't draw dicks on the doors," I pointed to the glass where Calum had previously drawn a small picture of the male anatomy.

He smiled.

We finished our shower and I went back into the room and into the closet. Calum followed. He pulled on some boxers before drying his hair with the towel. After putting on some under garments. I grabbed a shirt and pulled it over my head.

I heard Calum humming. The sound was familiar to me. I racked my brain to remember what song it was. I finally remembered it was Yellow by Coldplay.

I began to sing along to his humming. "Your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones, turn into something beautiful. And you know, you know I love you so."

Calum turned to me, "You know I love you so."

I smiled slightly, "It's a good song."

He nodded, "Ready to go?"

"Yea, let me just get my shoes," I replied as I grabbed my Doc Martens. I grabbed my flannel and followed Calum downstairs. Aslan and Chewie were sleeping on their bed.

"They look so cute," I said.

"Let's go before they wake up," Calum added as he grabbed his keys and made his way to the door. I followed him and stepped out into the warm weather. Calum locked the door behind him and took my hand as he walked me to his car. He opened the door for me and I got it before he closed it.

Calum slid in the driver's seat and started the engine before driving out of the driveway and racing towards the city. He turned on the radio and kept on switching from station to station.

"Here, let me help you," I grabbed the aux cord and plugged in my phone.

He chuckled.

I played the first song and I bobbed my head to the catchy drums.

"What song is this?" Calum asked.

"Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High by Arctic Monkeys," I replied.

"The mirror's image, tells me it's home time, but I'm not finished cause you're not by my side. And as I arrived I thought I saw you leaving, carrying your shoes. Deciding that once again I was dreaming of bumping into you. Now it's three in the morning and I'm trying to change your mind. Left you multiple missed calls until my message, you reply, why'd you only call me when you're high?"

"High, why'd you only call me when you're high? Somewhere darker, talking the same shite. I need a partner, well are you out tonight? It's harder and harder to get you to listen 'more I get through the gears. Incapable of making alright decisions and having bad ideas."

"Now it's three in the morning and I'm trying to change your mind. Left you multiple missed called until my message you reply, why'd you only call me when you're high? high, why'd you only call me when you're high? And I can't see you here, wondering where am I?"

"Sorta feels like I'm running out of time. I haven't found what I was hoping to find. You said you gotta be up in the morning, gonna have an early night, then you started to bore me, baby why'd you only call me when you're high? Why'd you only call me when you're high?"

The song ended.

"That was a pretty good song," Calum said.

"Right! I recently started listening to Arctic Monkeys and I absolutely love their album AM. This is another favorite song off the album. It's called Knee Socks."

The upbeat guitar chords blared out of the speakers as Calum drove on the road. Minutes later Calum got off the freeway and stopped at a red light.

We drove on the streets until we reached our destination. Calum parked the car and got out. he opened the door for me and I thanked him as he closed the door behind me. He took my hand and led me to the door.

We got our food and we got back into the car.

"I have a surprise for you," Calum said.

"Okay, what is it?" I asked.

"I have to show you," He replied.

He started the engine and drove out of the parking lot. Thirty minutes later we were back at the house. He grabbed the food and got out. I followed him inside. We were greeted by Aslan and Chewie who were barking excitedly.

"Hey boys," Calum said. I closed the door behind me.

"The surprise is here?" I asked slightly confused.

"Yes," He took my hand and led me to the beach where I saw a projector in front of white bed sheet.

"Calum what is this?" I asked amazed.

"Movie night! Just us two and some Panda Express, just like our first date," He said.

I smiled and pulled him into a kiss, "I love you so much right now."

"I love you too, darling. Now let's eat!"

I pulled up to chair onto the sand as Calum set up the movie. He sat in the chair next to me and grabbed his food before starting the movie.

"What movie is it?" I asked.

"Guess," He replied.

My suspicions where confirmed when I realized that the movie was The Great Gatsby. It was exactly like our first date. I tried my hardest not to cry because Calum had remembered something so long ago, so well.

"I'm surprised you remember that day," I said.

"That's the day I realized that someway, somehow, you had to be mine."

"It worked," I replied with a smiled. "And here we are, almost a year later, with a promise ring on one hand and two puppies in the other."

"Sounds perfect to me," Calum said.
