90. Chapter 90 : Hospital Visits

Helen's POV

I woke up with a headache. Not a hangover, just a headache. I took some painkillers and tried to forget about it. Calum had gone out for a morning jog. He asked if I wanted to join him, but I declined. My stomach growled but every time I saw food, I gagged.

I don't know what's going on with me and I know I'm not pregnant because I just got off my period four days ago. And I don't want to tell Calum because I don't want him to worry. I set Aslan and Chewie on the island since they were leaning against my legs. I smiled at them before grabbing their food from the pantry.

I set their bowls in front of them and they began to eat. The refrigerator was free of fruit, which is what I wanted. An exhale left my lips. I reached for the eggs and milk to make pancakes for Calum since he'll probably be hungry. I opened the pantry and stood on my tiptoes to grab the pancake mix.

I began mixing everything into a bowl. Half an hour later I was finished making the pancakes. I brought the bacon out but I dropped it when I caught a whiff. I ran into the bathroom and emptied my stomach of the bile it had. I groaned and flushed the toilet.

Aslan and Chewie were barking in excitement. I heard the door open followed by the sound of Calum greeting the puppies.

"Helen?" He called.

I quickly brushed my teeth before walking into the kitchen. Calum set Aslan and Chewie down. His shirt was stuck to his sweaty body. He wrapped his arms around me.

"You're wet," I said.

"Are you talking to yourself?" He asked me.

I rolled my eyes and smiled, "You're too much. How was the run?"

"It went well," He pulled his shirt over his head and revealed his exposed torso. He caught me staring and winked. I laughed a little before turning away and walking towards the stove. I held my breath as I grabbed the bacon. I grabbed Aslan and Chewie's bowls from the island and put them in the sink.

Calum was leaning against the fridge door. I looked at him, "What?"

He smiled, "Just admiring how beautiful you look."

"You never fail to make me blush." I walked past him but I stopped when I felt his hand on my butt. I turned to Calum who had a huge grin plastered on his face. "Did you just slap my ass?"

"Maybe," He replied.

I laughed before making my way up the stairs. Calum was close behind. We walked into our shared bedroom. He went into the closet and tossed his running shoes off before throwing his shirt and shorts into the hamper. He walked out in only his boxers.

"I'm going to shower," He said.

"Okay," I replied as I pulled my jeans on.

"Is that one of the bras that I bought you?" he asked.

"Yea!" I exclaimed. Calum had bought me four new pairs of bras and if that doesn't scream 'keeper' I don't what does.

"It looks good on you," He added.

"You just like it because you chose it," I laughed.

"But I never thought you were going to wear then. I thought you forgot about them actually," he said.

"Never, they're cute. I love them," I said.

"I'm glad, now I'm gonna go before that shower turns into shower sex," He walked into the bathroom.

"You know I'm off, right?"

He popped his head back into the room, "You are?"

"Yea, since Monday."

"And you didn't tell me?" He exclaimed.

"I forgot to tell you," I said.

He raised his eyebrow and grinned, "So?" He motioned between us two and the bathroom.

"Tonight," I added.

He groaned, "That's so far away."

"Oh hush, you'll make it through. Now hurry and shower before the food goes cold."

Throughout the day I tried to ignore my headache. It went away for a while after I took the painkillers, but now its back. Calum noticed when I kept on craddling my head in between my hands.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I just have a headache," I replied. "I'm going to get a glass of water," I got up from the couch but I soon became lightheaded and a flash of darkness overcame my eyes. I almost fell but Calum caught me.

"Babe, maybe we should take you to the hospital," He said.

"No, I'm fine," I insisted. "Can you get me some pills?"

He sat me down before getting up and going into the kitchen I heard the sounds of various doors being opened.

"Where are they?" He asked.

"In the pantry next to the fridge," I replied.

"Fuck," Calum muttered.

I got up from the couch and began making my way to the kitchen. I kept one hand on the wall to keep my balance. I felt my whole body go hot. My head spun as if the blood drained from my brain. I fell and my vision went blank.

Calum's POV

I heard the sound of something crash to the floor. I left the kitchen and found Helen on the ground.

"Helen!" I picked her up and felt her pulse. It was slow. "I got you, baby." I carried her to my car. I didn't want to leave Chewie and Aslan alone, I quickly picked them up and ran out of the yard into the neighbors. I knocked on the door.

The door opened shortly after, "Oh, you're Helen's boyfriend, Calvin, is it?"

"Calum," I corrected.

"Calum," She repeated, "What brings you here?"

"Can you take care of Aslan and Chewie? I have to take Helen to the hospital," I said frantically.

"Is she okay?" Mrs. Dott asked.

"She just fainted, but her pulse is incredibly slow," I replied, I handed her the puppies and she gladly took them. "If we're not back by nightfall I'll have Helen's brother come pick them up."

"Don't worry, they'll be fine with me," Mrs. Dott said. She looked at me, "Helen will be okay. Don't worry." I must've looked extremely worried. I nodded and rushed back to close the house door and locking it before getting in the car and driving towards the hospital.

I dodged several cars on the freeway. Swerving in and out of the lanes. I was going at a rapid speed once I saw the hospital. I took the nearest exit. My heart was racing wildly.

I parked into the first spot I saw and got out. I opened the door and picked Helen up before closing and locking my car behind me. I ran towards the ER.

The doors slide open and I frantically ran up to the desk.

"Please help me, my girlfriend, she fainted," I said desperately.

The nurses began shouting things at each other as they took Helen from my arms and put her on a gurney and wheeling her to the hall. I followed behind. The nurse was checking her pulse.

"Slow," She said.

They took her to a room and that's when the nurse came up to me, "I'm gonna have to ask you to wait outside please."

"No, I have to see her!" I said.

"She'll be okay, just let us do our job," She added.

I nodded and she want back into the room. I called Luke.

"Cal, what's up?" He asked.

"Meet me in the hospital," I said.

"Cause I brought Helen here," I replied.

"I'm on my way," He hung up.

I was finally able to go inside. She was hooked with various needles and machines. I never thought I'd see her like this.

"What's wrong with her?" I asked.

"Has she been eating much?" The nurse asked. Her hair was tied back and her dark skin complemented her light colored eyes.

Her question settled on me, my mind began going over the past few days. She hasn't been eating much, or at all. I shook my head.

"Her body is suffering because of lack off food in her system. Which is what might've caused the headache and and dizziness," She said.

I pinched the bridge of my nose. I wanted to cry, was she starving herself? If so why?

"Has she had eating disorders in the past?" She asked.

"She's never brought any of that up," I noted. "Maybe her dad will know."

"Is he here?" the nurse asked.

"He should be here in no time," I replied.

The door swung open and Luke, Ashton and Michael stepped inside.

"Is she okay?" Luke asked once he saw Helen.

"She'll be okay, she's just resting," The nurse replied. "Are you related to her?"

"I'm her brother," Luke said.

Andy came in shortly after.

"How is she? What happened?" He asked.

"She's doing good, she just fainted," I replied.

"You're the father?" Monica the nurse asked.

"Yes, I'm Andrew Hemmings."

"Can I talk to you outside real quick?" Monica asked.

"Of course."

They left the room, leaving me with Luke and the rest. Silence fell upon us. The only noise was the sound of the machine beeping and the clock ticking on the far wall.

She stirred awake, "Calum." I stood from my chair and took her hand.

"I'm right here, darling," I said.

"What happened?" She asked.

"You fainted," I replied.

"Hey sis, how are you feeling?"

"Better," She replied.

I smiled a little.

"Where's Aslan and Chewie?" She asked.

"I left them with Mrs. Dott," I replied.

She nodded. Andy walked back into the room.

"Hi dad," She smiled.

"Hi Helen," he greeted. "Can I speak the my daughter alone, please?"

We all left the room.
