57. Chapter 57 : I Become Josh Dun

Helen's POV

I rolled over on my bed and was met with a pile of pillows facing me. I remember creating the pillow barrier last night to even out Adin and I's space on the bed. We always slept on each other's beds when we spent the night. I started limiting our space because Adin tended to be a bed hogger and that ended with me being thrown off the bed.

We fell asleep early in the morning, shortly after I ended my call with Calum. Who know's what time it is now, but it's past noon, that's for sure. Billie was curled in a ball at the end of the bed between our feet.

"What time is it?" Adin mumbled.

I grabbed my phone and squinted at the bright screen, "Almost 2:30."

"Fuck," He said. "I'm so tired." He pulled the sheets over his head. I nodded in agreement.

"Do you want to go get some breakfast? Or lunch?"

"I am pretty hungry, but can you drag me out of bed?"

"Aw c'mon, I carried you to my car after we worked out!" he exclaimed.

I huffed, "Fine." After pulling myself out of my bed I went over to Adin's side. I grabbed his hand and dragged his lanky body out of bed. His limbs made a loud thump! on the carpet. He groaned. "Sorry," I muttered and dropped his hand.

"You're a great friend."

I laughed, "Now get up before the Twins see you and start freaking out."

"Oh I forgot about them! Shit." He paused. "Maybe I can just jump off your balcony and into a bush. Stunt guys do it all the time it shouldn't be that hard!"

"You idiot! They're trained professionals." I said.

Adin quickly slipped his shoes on since he was already dressed. We both were too tired and just slept in the clothes we had on, which just happened to be, plain black jeans and a band shirt.

"Adin, just go down the stairs, I'll go first and let you know if the coast is clear," I assured him.

"I was about to go Jackie Chan on this."

I went to my bedroom door and cracked it open before poking my head out. I looked in both directions and the hall was empty, good. After slowly opening the door all the way, Billie jogged out. I followed behind him as he made his way downstairs.Laughter came from the TV room where I imagined that the twins would be. I heard Billie's low growl and focused my attention on him.

There was a frightened gasp, followed by a scoff. "Dog."

Aunt Clara came into view from the kitchen. She turned to me, "Oh, there you are you little pest. Take the dog outside and vacuum the carpets."

I herded Billie outside before sliding the door closed. "One, done." I quickly pulled out my phone and texted Adin to go outside since my Aunt was busy ordering me around. "As for the vacuuming, well I'm going to lunch."

"With who?" She asked.

"Who are you my Mom?"

She rolled her eyes. It was only a week left of having Aunt Clara here and I wish that week would hurry the hell up.

"Bye Aunt Clara," I called as I turned on my heel and walked across the marble floor towards the door. I opened it and pushed it before it slammed shut. Adin was already in his car, waiting patiently. I dashed towards his car and jumped inside.

"Ready to go?" He asked.

"Yea," I replied.

He started the engine and raced out of the driveway.

Adin and I had just gotten back from the restaurant. I didn't feel like being around Aunt Clara so I simply told Adin to take me to his house. I sat on his messy. Every time I came in here, his bed was always messy.

I held his acoustic guitar in my lap and played simple chords. My fingers moved across the neck from fret to fret to make a tune.

"Do you still have your guitars?" Adin asked abruptly.

I stopped playing and looked at him, "My acoustic and electric guitar, along with my bass, yea."

Years back, Luke convinced me to get a guitar and start playing. My Dad taught me on his acoustic guitar that I still have and he later on bought me my very first electric guitar that I love with all my heart. As for my bass, I saved up quite a while for that one. One day I just said, why the hell not own a bass?

Adin's eyes widened like a mad man and I was scared for my life.

"Let's start a band!" He exclaimed.

I stared at him before bursting out in laughter, "Oh my gosh Adin! A band?" I laughed some more.

"I'm serious Helen," He said.

My laughter wavered as I saw that he was serious, "Okay Adin, I draw the line here."

"C'mon Helen, we can do this! We can form a band," He said.

"Even if we did what would be do? Twenty one pilots 2.0?"

"DUDE! That would be sick!"

I face-palmed, "Adin we can't just do stuff randomly. We're gonna open the shop, where will we have the time to squeeze in a band?"

"It'll just be a hobby, nothing serious!" He nudged my arm. "C'mon you've been saving up for a drum kit right?" He asked. I nodded. "See! You can be the drummer."

"Nothing serious?" I asked.

"It'll just be for fun! The chance of us even getting a big break is one in a million," He said.

"I don't know Adin. This is a lot to take up," I added.

"You always said you wanted to make music."

"No I didn't."

He rolled his eyes, "Just for once in your life, Helen, live. You told me you were saving up to buy a drum kit anyway! This is your chance to do something that mean something in your life."

I sighed in surrender, "Fine, Adin. I'll form a band with you."

He smiled and pulled me in a tight hug that knocked the wind out of me. I gasped for air as my face was stuffed with Adin's shirt. He finally let go and I filled my lungs with air once again.

"Let's go to the music store!" he exclaimed.

My drum kit sat in the back of Adin's Dad's truck. We spent nearly an hour trying to find the perfect drum kit. Perfect color, perfect everything. Adin got himself a new amplifier and whole bunch of guitar picks since he's constantly losing his and always had to borrow some of mine.

Adin was tapping his fingers on the steering wheel at a red light.

"Who's gonna sing?" I asked. "Obviously I'm not since I'm the drummer."

"I don't know, I'll put up some adds saying we need a bassist and lead singer," He said.

"Whatever you say."

We finally arrived at my house and the garage door was open. Strange. I realized that the Ranger Rover was missing, but my Dad's usual driving car was there. Aunt Clara must've taken it and the girls somewhere. Even better. I got out of the truck and closed the door behind me.

"Where are you gonna put it?" Adin asked referring to the drum kit.

I shrugged, "Maybe the game room, it's nearly empty."

We started bringing down the kit and moving it in the house. I passed the kitchen where my Dad was eating, "Hi Dad," I greeted.

"Do I even want to know?" He asked.

"Maybe later," I replied as I walked into the game room and set down part of the kit. Finally after bringing everything down, we moved my guitars in the room and declared it the 'Band Room.' We spent the next hour trying to put together the drum kit and learning to construct it and de-construct it.

After finally finishing, I collapsed on the carpet floor.

"Banding 101-Step one: instruments. Check," Adin said.

"Step two: Band Mates," I added.

"That's a work in progress."

Just like my life.
