15. Chapter 13.

"Alright, this time, try not to almost die?" Christie said, slamming the trunk closed. Kevin huffed, "I saved your life!"

"Will you two stop arguing?" Sam growled, "You sound like an old married couple! Let's just get in and gank the witch, you can fight all you want back at the motel."

They entered the house cautiously, looking around for anything suspicious. They living room was decorated was a beach theme, with blue walls and a painting of a ship hanging on one of them.

"This place seems pretty normal for a witch's house." Christie said, stepping in first.

"That's the point." Dean said, trotting into the middle of the living room, "They've got to blend in with everyone else."

"Who the hell are you?" An old woman yelled, stepping out of the kitchen. She held a shotgun, and had it aimed at Christie's torso. Christie held up her hands in a non-threatening manner.

"Woah, just take it easy." She said calmly.

"Get out of my house!" The old woman yelled, lifting the gun. Kevin shoved Christie to the floor and the woman fired the gun.

The bullet hit him in the chest. He collapsed, dead before his body hit the ground. His eyes stared up at the ceiling glassily.

Christie woke with a start, drenched in sweat. Her heart pounded thunderously in her chest. She looked wildly around, until she spotted Kevin on the other bed, sleeping safe and sound. They had decided earlier that night that it would just be easier to have the one room, and have Sam and Dean sleep at the foot of Christie's bed. Kevin opened his eyes when he felt her watching him.

"Chris?" He asked groggily, sitting up, "You okay?"

"I'm fine," she panted, "Just had a nightmare."

Kevin blinked owlishly at her, "'Bout what?"

Christie slid out of bed and walked towards the bathroom. "Nothing, I'm fine."

"No you're not." Kevin replied, sliding out of the covers and scooting over to sit on the edge of the bed. Christie turned on the sink, and splashed water on her face. The image of Kevin lying dead on the floor came rushing back and a feeling of guilt washed over her. Kevin could have died when that bullet him. He had most likely saved her life and she had gotten angry at him. Kevin was the first friend she had really had and she was determined to keep him. With that thought in mind she turned off the lights and walked back into the room.

"Hey Kev?"

Kevin looked up, "Hmm?"

Christie leaned against the doorway of the bathroom, "Thanks for saving my life. And sorry I was such a bitch to you about it."

Kevin cracked a smile. "No problem."

"It's just.....if you had died.....I probably would've never forgiven myself. I mean, my mom died protecting me and I don't want anyone else to die because of me."

Kevin frowned, "I doubt your mom's death was your fault. Don't blame yourself for it. If I had died, that would have been my choice." He slid his legs back under the blankets and laid back down.

"And for the record, Chris, I would do it again."

And with that he closed his eyes and rolled over.

Christie glanced at Dean at the end of her bed, still sound asleep.

"Some guard dog you are." She muttered, crawling back into bed.

"I'm awake." Dean replied, not opening his eyes.

Christie rolled her eyes and laid down.

She was asleep in minutes.

She was awoken a few hours later by pounding on the door. She glanced over at Kevin to see him sitting up looking at something on his laptop.

"You gonna get that?" She asked irritably when he didn't move.

"No." He replied, keeping his eyes on the screen. Christie glared at him and rolled out of bed when the person continued knocking on the door. She flung it open, "What do you want?" She snapped. The person knocking had been a tall buff guy, not quite as tall as Sam but still taller than Dean. He scowled down at her. "We got a complaint last night that your dogs were barking. Dogs are against hotel policy, so I'm going to have to ask you to find somewhere else to stay."

Christie glared up at him, "Sam and Dean don't bark."

"Yeah, I'm sure your mutts are perfect angels but-"

"What did you say your name was?" Kevin interrupted. The man shot him a dirty look. "I didn't. It's Mike Alvarez." He turned his attention back to Christie, "As I was saying, dogs aren't allowed, so I'm asking you to leave or we'll call the cops." Mike threatened.

"Well, I'm sure they'll be happy to know about your criminal history, Mike. Or should I say, Shadow Bandit?" Kevin chuckled lightly. Mike's face paled and he took a step back. "How did you-"

Kevin cut him off again, "Eighteen robberies, twenty four cases of breaking and entering, assault; you've got a long list here, Mike. I wonder much jail time that adds up to... what do you think Christie?"

Hopefully this is a good one, it's the season for season finales and the Gotham one already messed me up and the finale for the Flash made me want to rip Barry's legs off...
