Humanoid: The Kovra Sisters

Jinx knows all about the things that go bump in the night. They're the reason she exists. Being a humanoid in a city full of mysteries was a smart move. An alchemist with a lot more power than anyone thinks. She wins his heart easy enough, but his love for her means nothing to his older brother. The man who calls all the shots seems to have taken an interest in Jinx. Now Jinx keeps a few secrets. She has powers she's been suppressing for years and for a good reason. Running has never been an issue, but now it is. Not only because she's being held against her will, but because this time she might just care about someone other than herself. Love, family, honor and loyalty is on the line in this twist and turning adventure. Can one of the most dangerous witches be stopped?

16. Chapter 15

When I heard footsteps approaching the room I proceeded to panicking. The water was still boiling and I knew that if the witch found out I could wiled any amount of power it would mean hell for me. I couldn't even imagine the things she would do. The clicking of her heels grew closer, closer and I tried to gain control of myself. The door flew open moments after the water simmered down and Kai came in dragging in something behind her.

"Ok! How about a little family reunion?" The door was kicked the rest of the way and pulled her left hand forward where she was gripping something rather large. I couldn't quite make out what it was, but the familiar scent of blood filled the room. Or course I didn't recognize blood because it the scent was so different, old. When Kai finally tossed whatever it was towards me it rolled and made the floor rumble before it came to a halt merely a foot from me. I had to bite my tongue to keep from screaming. It was a body near the process of decomposing. By the looks of it, it should have rotted long ago, but Kai must have kept it preserved for this moment.

"Do you know her? I'm sure you must remember." Kai asked joyfully.

"I don't know who she is." I stuttered thought I tried to seem as calm and composed as one can manage in a situation like this.

"Think harder." Amusement was so clear in her voice and I wanted to be out of these shackles long enough to wrap my fingers around her neck and ring it. Yet, despite the desire to make her pay for the horrors she's done, I pushed myself to think. I took a crash course down memory lane and dug up the memories I tried to hard to bury the last couple of years. Then it hit me. Back when I took my first breath of life. My tank was drained and I fell to my knees before crawling out of the opening, glass doors. There was another tank besides mine with a small, metal plate that read "El 0.4."

I didn't want to, but I took another look at the body before me. El had yet to be finished when I was brought to life. She was slender and taller than I was and her hair was a radiant blonde, at least it used to be. Now it looked faded and... dead. Still, she was beautiful. Perfect no doubt, as Kai must have intended. Now her twisted mouth and blooded form made a horror out of her beauty. She was to be my sister, but I escaped before I ever saw her come to life. Seeing her now, I felt regret. Maybe if I had stayed a little longer I could have helped her escape as well. Instead I left and here she was. Dead and still so young.

"You're a monster." I said under my breath.

"Do you know who she is now?" Kai didn't wait for a response from me. "She was your replacement. Unfortunately there were some glitches and I had to dispose of her."

"Glitches?" I asked, the hate and loathing mixing with my voice.

"Yes. She thought for her self. She developed a mind of her own a lot quicker than you did. She had no emotions though, so she felt nothing when I let my snakes eat their way into her stomach. After that they devoured her heart." Kai crouched and yanked El's shirt up and I had to look away. Her face was already unbearable to look at, but the gruesome sight of her destroyed body was too much to take in. The hole where her heart should be made my eyes water as well as fear the possibilities of going through the same thing.

Kai left once more and left El sprawled on the floor in front of me with her torso exposed. The monstrous witch said she had no emotion. I guess Kat spared El of the fear of being mistreated and killed. In a way I envied El, but something about her facial expression told me she felt some level of fear in her very last moments. Still, she was dead whilst I am here, enduring as much torture as an almost human being can. All because Mason would disapprove if I gave up. More so now that I know I can use my power without channeling them with my violin.

I had no idea how long I've been here. I lost all notion of time as soon as I was cut off from the outside world. The torture didn't help any either. Eventually the exhaustion was too much for me to handle and I closed my eyes for only a second. I fell asleep too quickly and the next time I woke up was because of the voices.

"Just leave her alone." Mason was speaking in a hushed tone. "She was did what she had to do. let it go."

"That girl cannot get away with her treason." The next voice was Robin's. If we let a traitor plotting against us run free how do you think that will look with our reputation?"

"She has no idea who we are. Not really. She's been here hiding for who know how long. Robin, I'm asking you to let her off with a warning." Both Mason and Robin kept quiet and there was a slight moment where I thought both men might have had each other by the throat. I was urged to jump off the bed where I slept and run out of the room to stop Robin from hurting Mason.

"A warning. I don't know what you see in that thing. She's not even human."

"Rise and shine!" My eyes snapped open. It had only been a dream. My heart was racing from the sudden spark that woke me from my dream and I had to breath in and out several times until my chest no longer felt like bursting. Kai was crouched in front of me with a wide smile on her face and in her hand she had a pair of scissors. Her arms snaked around my neck and with one hand she grabbed my curled hair and cut right through, leaving me with jaw length stands. I wasn't sure if this was some form of torture for her, but if so I'm guessing she had no idea that within a few hours it will all grow back.

"This time I won't go wrong. You hair will ensure that my next creation looks just like you. Only this time it won't rebel against me like you and El 0.4 did." She laughed. It was hysterical and more than a little terrifying. "You will have a twin! Not that you will ever get to meet her, but isn't it exciting?" Her voice was so full of glee and I kept my head bowed because I knew I'd talk back if I saw the legit happiness on her face.

I was sure of one thing. There was no chance in hell I was going to let her make another humanoid to torture, much less another that looks like me. I kept calm and quiet as she went on and on about how perfect she will be, more perfect than I even was. I needed all the strength I could gather if I was going to pull off another escape. Whatever I could muster out of my beat up body counts. My powers are an extra perk I am counting on. I knew I had to destroy her lab before escaping, so every bit of anger and raw desire to see the son of a bitch Ducks that made me fall fo him was also something I was leaning on. In all my years, I admit this plan is the most ludicrous I've ever had, but I'm not left with much of a choice.

"Well, I'm excited. I've been waiting a long time for your DNA." She pulled a bag from the back pocket of her jeans and made me snap out of the rage frenzy I was falling into. As I watched her put away only a small strand of my hair into the bag I thought I'd worry about my escape after she leaves. Right now I looked up at her. I hand't had the chance to fully see Kai since I got here. She's changed. I remember she used to to wear old, tight gowns and Victorian dresses. Now she was in jeans that worked more as a second layer of skin, spaghetti strap, silk blouse the color of blood, and ankle boots. Her fire red hair was tied back in a poiny tail, unlike before when it flowed like a crimson river. She was pacing back and forth, the heel of her boots crushing straigh through El's lifeless hand. I heard the weak bones crack easily and I winced. The rest of my hair was all over the floor and Kai hummed something all too familiar. It was the same melody I played with my violin.

"You know, you should be thanking me." She began. "I got you out of that place where they were holding you prisoner. Of course this isn't any better, but better be killed by family than strangers. Right?" She looked back at me, her now colorless eyes shifting with such evil. "Tell me about that dream boat that rescused you last time. What is he?"

I didn't give her an aswner. Knowing she'd get nothing from me she pouted and continued talking.

"No matter. I'll find out sooner or later. I'll be back later for you." Her heels clicked away, closing the door behind her.

"Sorry. Not planning to stick around." I mumbled and looked left and right. There was water still all over the floor. El was still in front of me, but I tried ignoring the awful smell of ehr body giving into the rot.

When the water boild a while ago, I was focused on the anger. Well, let's just say I have a lot to be angry about. The bitch kidnapped me, tortured me, and I wasn't even able to ask Mason to leave with me. El shouldn't have died, and here she was in front of me. Robin won't leave me the hell alone and Loon can be a little- pain shot through me. I looked it my wrists to find the poiling water crawling up my arm towards the shackle. It wrapped around the rusty metal as if it was a snake and it turned a bright red. This migth leave a scar, but it's worth it. The heat melted the shackles down and I bit down my lower lip to mufle my cries. Once I was free, I placed my hands against my stomach and waited a moment for them to cool off.

When the pain subsided I wobbled to my feet and half crawled, half walked towards the door. Careful to keep quiet, I held the door knob and twisted it slowly. Not a sound came from the door as I gently pushed it open, but I nearly screamed and fell back on my ass. I was faced with blazing eyes, then a pair of hands advanced towards me. One arm wrapped around my waist to keep me standing and the other hand slapped against my mouth to keep me quiet. When I finally decided to believe he was actually here, I wrapped my arms around Mason and let myself fall over him. I went limp in his embrace.

"Do you have any idea how glad I am to see you?" I mumbled. I wasn't sure he heard me since my face was buried in his shoulder. He had his knees slightly bent to be more or less at eye level and then I felt him maneuver his left arm behind my knees. With that he stood up straight and carried my close to his chest.

"Tell me about it after I get you out of here."

"No... We need to find Kai's lab. We need to destroy it. She's planning on making another humanoid, Mason. One that looks just like me."

"I'm getting you out of here." He insisted.

"No." Despite the pain and exhaustion I fought against his hold. He only held me tighter and I hissed as his arm came in contact with one of the fresher wounds.

"Damn it." Mason cursed under his breath and placed me on my own feet before lifting my chin with his index finger. "You're insane if you think I'll risk your safety just because you want to destroy Kai's play room."

"We have too. She'll only torture her next creation.... Like she did me. "

"We can deal with that later." Her pressed.

"What other chance will we have to being this close to her lab? None. I know where it is. Let's get to it, destroy it and run for it."

"Let's go." I cut him off and walked towards the opposite direction we were heading to. I knew this place well enough to know that Kai's lab was only two long halls away from my room. I made a right and then a left. Mason was at my heels, possibly cursing himself for going along with this. I don't blame him. I'd think he'd be crazy too if the roles were reversed.
