The War of Four Worlds

"I race through the woods, dodging trees and leaping over boulders, careful not to slip on the thin layer of frost on the ground. I routinely glance over my shoulder, seeing the pack of wolves quickly gaining on me.
I come to a halt when I reach a drop-off. Very long way down, and the cliff is vertical, no way to slide anyways. I hear the panting and paws crunching snow, so I'll try something new."

Read it to figure out what this is about! Hint: it gets very science fictioney (that's not a word) and there's plenty of blood and stuff so be warned.

Also, watch the 'trailer' (it's just a song, actually, but if you like rock music you should listen to it).

5. Chapter 5

Everything is blurry. I'm in a dark place . . . and . . . I can't seem to keep a thought in my head five seconds before it slips away.

Zane. I see Zane. I can't move. Where am I? It's cold . . .

There's sounds coming my way. There's . . . Zane talking? It's hard to tell.

" . . . immortality . . . " I smile a little, because I was able to grasp that one word. Zane looks slightly confused at my smile. I wonder what he said. He reaches for something behind me. I can't turn to see, but whatever he did is making everything blurrier . . . is he drugging me? Son of a . . .

My eyes snap open. The blurriness is gone, and so is Zane. I turn to see an empty IV bag that had been dripping dosages of . . . something into my system. Bastard. At least he left me alone until it ran out . . .

I pull the needle out of my arm and search for an exit. These pesky alien worlds that didn't decide to put bright red exit signs at every turn.

I find a large stone door, left open, and slip through. Outside is the large desert that was the battlefield.

The battle must have ended a long time ago. Bodies lay everywhere, many of them human, just as many larger, taller, and better-equipped versions of humans.

There are Ragian clean-up ships patrolling the area, and my heart sinks.

We lost.
