Star, Stripes, and a Hammer

AU in which Peter Quill comes to Earth and rooms with Steve and Thor, who currently share an apartment. The three find themselves in weird situations and almost always are baffled.

1. A Much Needed Vacation

A lot has changed… Well, duh. It's been like 20 years or something!

Peter Jason Quill, who had just saved the galaxy, was going back to where it all began. Where he began. Earth. His ship, the Milano, was descending towards a rapidly enlarging aircraft carrier hovering just above the clouds. 'No, it wasn't just any aircraft carrier,' Peter thought. 'A Helicarrier. Ah, yes.'

Slowly, Peter landed the Milano on the deck of the Helicarrier and exited his ship. "Welcome back to Earth, Mr. Quill."

"Thank you." Peter gave a curt nod to the man who had addressed him— Nick Fury.

"I hope it won't be too hard to adjust," Fury said, leading Peter inside.

Peter shrugged. "How much different can it be?"

"Oh, you have no idea."

Peter whirled around.

"Captain Rogers." Fury said.

"Nick." The Captain replied, then looked in Peter's direction. "Who's this?"

Peter stepped forward to greet the Captain. "Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord."

"Steve Rogers, Captain America. It's a pleasure to meet you." Steve held his hand out. "The pleasure's mine." Peter shook his hand and smiled.

"Captain Rogers knows better than anyone about adjusting to modern times." Fury stated. "I think you two would get along." With that, Fury walked off, leaving the lord of stars and the star spangled captain in the hallway.

"So I guess you've gotten pretty used to all of…" Peter gestured to nothing in particular. "This?" Steve nodded and began to lead Peter down the hall, then asked, "So what brings you to Earth?"

"A much needed vacation." Quill answered with a chuckle. Rogers arched his brow slightly and chuckled as well. "Oh really? And what's your line of work?"

"Guardian." Peter said simply, then added, "Of the galaxy."

Steve studied Quill's face for a moment, not entirely sure if he was telling the truth or not. Peter could tell and sighed. "Don't believe me, do you?"

The captain opened his mouth to answer, but Quill spoke first. "I arrived in what's pretty much a spaceship."

"That could mean a number of different things." Steve pointed out.

"Like what?"

"An invasion, perhaps."

Quill rolled his eyes. "Trust me, I'm not an invading alien." Steve studied him for a long time, then nodded. "I believe you."

That made Peter feel a bit better. "Thanks."

"So how long are you going to be staying here?" Steve inquired. Peter answered with a shrug. "Well, if you don't have a place to stay, you're always welcome to stay with me." The captain smiled. Quill smiled back.

This could shape up to be the best vacation ever.
