Fuck You Over

*Said I was a douche bag won't call back, worst hangover you ever had. Felt so good at first but you knew it would never last.*
I stared at the girl in the front seat. Was that really my only competition? I had to be up against something better than that, something more classy and less trashy perhaps?
"This is Violet, she goes to the high school down the road from ours." Ashton said smirking at me. I smiled and shook her hand.
"Hey, I'm Hunter. It's a pleasure to meet you." I said sitting back in my seat. Ashton stared at me questioningly before turning the car on.
"We're gonna make one more stop at my friend Luke's house real quick." He said to Violet. She nodded. Oh no, he knew he was on to me. I sighed heavily and did breathing exercises. I forgot about Luke's part in my plan. Pretend I wasn't madly in love with him… seems easy enough.

4- Points and Parties

I woke up the next still hating my life. Surprising, huh? I had to get up and face the fact that I had with all power knowing that Luke's feelings for me if even in the smallest proportion did exist and I knowing this denied him. Rejected him.

I am going to hell.

That's where people who deny god and the deliciousness of French fries go, right?

I checked the clock. It was ten minutes past twelve which meant either Luke wasn't coming or he was already here. I ruled out number two because unlike Ally like and I didn't have that kind of relationship. Walk into their house and wait until they woke up. Talk to their family and pets, eat all the food they have. Normal shit. I trotted to my closet and pulled out a long sleeve plaid shirt that stopped at my knees and then I took a suit tie and made a huge bow in my hair. I grabbed a pair of black skinny jeans and slid them up my legs and then I put on a pair of ankle socks and turned to the door. Now I had to promise myself that if Luke wasn't coming I wouldn't act as though he was the sun and the moon and everything he did was life's best. I needed to build a bridge and get over it.

"I'm guessing today's 'look like you just had a one night stand' day." My father teased as I slid onto the island. He was making French fries and burgers. I glanced at him sending him a threat with my eyes.

"How was breakfast?" I asked as he flipped the patties.

"Same as always. She needs a babysitter tomorrow. I said you'd do it." He said.

"Yeah, little K is welcome. I love him." I said thinking of how Stephanie could raise such an angel.

"Oh I didn't say you had a choice." He said. I rolled my eyes

"Did Luke come by?" I asked straight forward. Rip the band aid off.

"Nope." He said popping the 'p'. I groaned and tugged at the loose prices of string on my shirt.

"If I ever run away it's because I couldn't stand the humiliation." I said laying back on the countertop. And like my good old dad he replied,

"If you ran away why would I waste my time looking for you? You weren't abducted it was a choice." He said shrugging. Sometimes I wonder if he ever really wanted a kid or just a best friend that wouldn't take him seriously and couldn't leave.

"CPS would have a field day with you." I said grabbing a handful of fries and walking to sit by the door. I thought that wishful thinking would bring him. I waited for thirty minutes. Maybe wishful thinking was a bunch of bullshit. And you know who you call when bullshit brings you down? The bullshit master. I dialed his number and he answer on the first ring.

"Masters? We aren't studying today." He said. I could mentally hear his frown.

"Hey, Michael remember that deal we made?" I asked him.

"We make lots of deals." He said.

"The one about trying the big dive. Off the rock?" I said.

"You up for it?" He asked a smirk obviously forming.

"I'll get my bathing suit." I said walking away from the door. Luke could go fuck himself. Maybe I wasn't getting over my bridge. But I sure was getting the hell off that death trap

I put on the first bathing suit I had which with my luck was a purple and black matching bikini. I threw on a pair of shorts and then slid on some flip flops. As I walked outside I saw Michael talking to Ashton and Luke. They were dressed in basketball shorts and sneakers. They kinda looked similar other than Ashton's brown hair and Luke's blonde.

"Clifford!" I screamed getting all three boys attention. Michael smirked at me and whistled. Ashton's eyes widen as though he didn't expect that I had a look worthy body and Luke? Well let's just say it didn't look as though he'd be skipping out on Saturday tutoring anymore. Michael waved me over to them and I sighed dropping my hair which I had let free of the tie. It now hung over my face.

"Well, well, well. You didn't have to get all dressed up for me, Masters. If you wanted some of the Cliff man you could've just asked." Michael chuckled. I pretended to puke and Luke glanced at me before looking elsewhere.

"Dude." Ashton said flicking his green haired friend.

"Sorry, forgot you guys were together now." Michael said rolling his eyes.

"Why don't we capture this moment, before she goes back to long sleeves and skinny jeans?" Ashton said taking his phone out.

"No!" I shouted. All three boys looked at me confused.

"I meant. I don't like pictures. I'm sorry. The flash makes me whiter than I already am. I don't need that." I laughed awkwardly.

"Uh, ok. Where y'all headed?" Ashton asked. I sighed happy the subject was changed.

"Dew Point." Luke's mouth hung open.

"Are you going to jump?" Ashton asked excited.

"No I'm going to sit there and watch the trees sway in the wind. Yes! We're going to jump!" Michael said sarcastically.

"Well we will let you go then. Waves get rowdy after the peak of the afternoon. Moons pull and whatever." Ashton said. I stared at him speechless. The others dismissed it.

"That's right." I said.

"What's right?" Ashton asked.

"Your scientific theory that you just brushed off is correct." I said. He shrugged and turned to the basketball hoop. I sighed and tugged on Michael's shorts.

"Alright, alright. Bye guys see ya at the party." Michael said walking away. Before I turned around Luke whispered in my ear.

"I meant what I had said last time about your clothes." He said. Then he turned around and continued playing basketball. I sighed and walked over to Michael's red Buick. I pulled my legs to my chin and buckled my seatbelt over myself.

"So, what happened?" He asked. Michael was a person who lived on gossip he couldn't talk about.

"Well I am currently going hormone crazy," Michael smirked at me. "In my brain. Not in my 'no-no square' you perverted bastard." I spit annoyed.

"I love how you hate the person who is helping you get over your boy problems. Where are your girlfriends? This isn't a mans department." He argued.

"Exactly, that's why I called you." I smiled at him. He rolled his eyes and continued on through Dew Points fields.

"What happened with you and Luke. He seems pissed." Michael said looking at me.

"He probably is and he probably hates me and is deciding whether Africa or Asia is farther from me. " I exasperated.

"Luke doesn't hate anyone. That's his thing." Michael rolled his eyes muttering goodie two shoes under his breath.

"Well I'm not anyone. I'm no one. So I'm hating material." I said. Michael didn't say anything for a while he just drove. I listen to the red car ride over the pebbles as we made it into higher and higher terrain. I kinda wished I could someone fly away. Fly away and never come back. Maybe in another life Luke and I could be together the right way.

"Get out." He said. Not in his witty joking way. Just like someone who wanted you get out would. I slid out of the car and walked over to the rock that was about four or five feet away from the cliff. Even the fucking rock was afraid to jump.

"Look, Michael, Luke hates. Me and I wish I could tell you the things that have lead up to it but..." I trailed off. Michael and Luke had only known that Ally was my best friend. When they all got the pictures they didn't even suspect Ashton. That's was his thing. Secretly date those unworthy.

"Look, I'm not pushing you to confess every lie you've ever told me. I just want to know why Ashton and not Luke?" I covered my face. Did he not understand that was one of the questions I wasn't allowed to answer!

"No Michael. Luke never confessed any feelings for me. He hadn't even had a full conversation with me prior two weeks ago." I said.

"We've been neighbors for sixteen years." I said in monotone.

"Luke isn't great with expressing his emotions." Michael said.

"And? That's no excuse. Write a fucking song and mail it to me." I said unbuttoning my pants. I was done with this conversation.

"Everything isn't black and white." He said.

"No Michael," I said climbing over the rock and to the ledge. The waters weren't subtle and that's unfortunately what I wanted. Unsubtle things alike history. Made me comfortable with my life, "nothing is in fact black or white." I said diving down off the twenty foot cliff. All you could do here was pray. Pray and cry out for god to hear you. But if for the last ten seconds you were quite and relaxed you could spread your arms and you'd be flying. High beyond the clouds and the birds and the earth. You could fly anywhere. Away as though the small area where earth and space meet was your home.

The water hit my body sending nerves into a haywire. My adrenaline was up and I was so far not panicking. I had jumped off Dew Point before and the last time I wasn't so motivated. I was basically thrown off. But let Michael tell it and we went off together. Liar.

Seconds later a splash was heard next to me. I saw the ripples appear where Michael landed. His green hair flounced up as he came up from the water. Michael wasn't bad looking. Far from it, but he was such an ass it was hard to see him as anything more than a companion. He swam over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I rested my arms on his shoulders.

"You feeling better yet?" He asked. I pretended to think for a second and them frowned.

"I could use some ice cream and some pizza. Ooh! And some French fries!" I smiled. He rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"Pizza or fries." He said.

"No, I said pizza and fries. Waters clogging you up." I said giggling.

"C'mon Masters, I'm feeling like Oprah today." He said pulling me with him to shore. We climbed up the hill and then dried off before getting in the car and leaving.

Time was going quickly and even though I didn't want to go. I had Ally helping me get ready for the party. She was kind of mad I had so easily gotten in with the cool crowd as a "real" girlfriend.

"Look at you and look at me. I don't understand!" She'd said. I had actually taken the time to do so. She was right. I wasn't anything like her. She was beautiful and she will always be beautiful. Her hair was gorgeous and her skin was amazing. Ashton was an idiot.

She had curled my long brown hair at the bottom where the blonde touched the brown but didn't mix. She had me where a bunch of dresses that looked like a skank and slut and things I couldn't even imagine looking let alone buying and wearing. In the end she let me where a white knee long strapless and a red long sleeved man's plaid shirt that was left unbuttoned. I wore my ruby red high tops and a ruby red headband. I had to admit I loved my taste. Ally sighed.

"How's he going to fall in love if you look like that?" She asked irritably.

"Well he falls in love with me, not my body." I said. The door bell rang and I knew my dad opened it.

"Hunter! Door!" He screamed. I motioned towards sunglasses but thought better.

Downstairs leaning on my door frame juggling his car keys wearing black skinny jeans and a worn and torn band tee was Luke. Even dressed like that he had this undeniable pull on my heart. I started to knot and unknot my hair over and over a nervous habit I'd like to break.

"Hey." He smiled.

"Hey." I smiled.

"Hey." I blushed as he chuckled at me. Why was this happening? I couldn't be in love with him? Had I ever even has a conversation? Do I even really know him? Do I care?

"Are you ready to party?" He asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be." I sighed walking behind him. Lola whimpered so I gave her the first food item I saw. A cookie.

"Dad! Feed Lola!" I screamed walking out of the door. I ran to Luke's car and slid in putting my hand on my sides. We didn't talk at first and then he coughed and I like a loser replied,

"Bless you."

"I coughed." He said.

"So? God! Why can't coughs and sneezes have equal blessings?" I asked.

"Because it was a cough." He chuckled.

"Shut up." I rolled my eyes. At the bottom of Luke's glove compartment was a bunch of unsigned bands. I'd heard of one or two before. The one that caught my eye first was Lil Rain.

"You can listen to it. The song is nice." He said shrugging.

"Adore, yeah I've heard it." I slid the cd into its thingy and listened to it load. The intro was sad and depressing. Yeah Luke your definition of nice is awesome.

'Everyday, every night. I want to see you baby staying by my side. I'm going down on my. On my knees for you...'

The song went on with its mix of reggae and it was sadly romantic. I wished I hadn't put it on. I saw Michael's house nearing. And since Aston and Michael were neighbors. I felt less compelled to turn of the song. Did he really think dropping hints was the best way to get a girl?

'You look into my eyes put me out of my misery.'

Stop, Luke. You. Need. To. Stop.

The car pulled into a huge house that looked completely trashed on the outside.

"Well at least we made it." He said snatching the cd out of the player. I groaned and refrained from pounding my head against something else. I walked to the front door and a lot of people stopped. Whispers about me began and I automatically took the sleeves of my shirt and covered my face.

"What's wrong?" Luke asked. He could sense I was uneasy about this. Great. I reeked of uncertainty and failure. I hope that's not genetic.

"I kinda hate people." I said weirdly. I didn't mean it like how it sounded but that's all I could say with Luke's lips basically raping my ear with words.

"Baby! You made it!" I heard Ashton smile as he saw me walk to the couch.

"Yeah," I smiled at his pet name.

"C'mon, I wanna introduce you to my brother." He said. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I already knew his brother and we were actually close. Calum was in black skinny jeans and a sleeveless black teeshirt. His hair wasn't different from at school except he had a beanie on. I was the weirdest dressed person in this entire party. Great.

"Hey, Hunter." Calum nodded at me.

"Hey," I answered. Still covering my face. Was it ok to be this nervous. There were college students here too. I knew because I went to the college for extra credit that I never did. One of the college girls walked past me and straight to Ashton.

"Hey, I was wondering if you could show me the upstairs? I mean if your girlfriend doesn't mind." She smiled at me.

"Go ahead." I shrugged. Ashton looked a little surprised by my immediate answer. Sorry bucko I don't give a flying fuck what you do and who you do it with.

"Come on then." She said.

"You'll be fine?" He asked.

"Yeah, Calum's here and Luke's somewhere and Michael is around. Have fun. We can hang later or whatever." I smiled. He pecked my cheek which actually tingled when he did so. He looked at me unconvinced as he was pulled away.

"You do know what they are going up there for right?" Calum asked leaning on a table.

"I'm guessing not monopoly." I teased.

"I knew you were different. But why date Ashton if your not going to hand him his balls?" He asked.

"Because the best relationships are when the boys want to be handed there balls." I said pulling a bottle of water out of my satchel.

"Well you seem to know what you're doing. PDA isn't one of Ashton's strong suits and that was PDA all over the earth. He must actually feel bad for what he's about to do." Calum says.

"Or he's drunk." I said.

"That too. But I like to give my stupid stepbrother the benefit of doubt." Calum replies.

"So one of you does have a soul." I teased playfully sipping my water.

The party went on nicely. I talked to a few girls from my school and surprisingly they weren't the terrible people Ally made them out to be. They weren't monsters they were human. And some didn't even have to get drunk to laugh at my jokes. One girl, Cassie Oliver who I had gym with, actual wanted to hang at the movies with me sometime. I told her sure and next weekend would happen. She talked about her dog Sophia and how she was a golden retriever. She told me about her doggy daycare and stuff and that it was good for dogs to be social.

Note to self: get Lola dog friends and get self human friends.

"So I don't mean to snoop, but I could've sworn you and Luke would be going. Not you and Ashton." She said in disgust. Another thing to love about Cassie she talked like she was from the 70's.

"Me and Luke are friends."

"Luke and I." She corrected. I rolled my eyes. Did it really matter? There was no us.

"Oh well. What about you? Calum really?" I asked. Cassie had long red hair that was so red it looked like an ink pen exploded. She had bright blue eyes and small lips. She had freckles all along her nose and cheeks. She had a slender body and look perfect. I kinda wished I'd known her longer so I could tell her she look perfect without sounding weird. She and Calum had been dating for years. They were that one adorable couple that everyone wished they were and then hated when they saw them.

"Speak of the devil." She muttered as Calum walked up to us. He kissed a freckle and then her nose then her forehead and lastly her lips. She giggled as he moved back and stared her down.

"I was wondering if I could steal her a second." Calum said.

"Oh totally go ahead. Um text me or something." I said awkwardly as she was pulled away. Not that I had given her any of my information. I walked around for awhile until I was in the backyard. In the backyard there were no people surprisingly. I sat on a swing that was there and placed my hands in my lap.

I really didn't belong here. I could make conversation but that didn't make me likable. That made me not socially awkward.

"What ya doing out here?" I heard someone ask. I looked up to see Ashton staring at me.

"I'm not really a partier. And even worse I ditched my best friend to come to a party I'm totally miserable at. God I suck." I said shaking my head.

"No, you're human." He said. He sat on the swing next to me and looked over at me.

"Being human sucks. I just want to fly away sometimes. So I don't have to..." I trailed off. Was I really talking to my boyfriend about problems? When did that happen. Never would've thought I'd even have a boyfriend. Let alone have Ashton Irwin as it.

"Human. Fly away and never come back to all this shit?" He offered. I didn't say anything. I guess I really didn't know the popular people I hid away from. Cassie and Ashton seemed to have more in common with me than Ally and I'd known her since I was nine.

"Look, I'm gonna head out, ok? I'm sorry I just..."

"I understand. Go, I'll text you tomorrow or something." He said.

"I'm babysitting my kinda brother. If you want to come over you can." I said standing up.

"I might swing by." He said.

And something inside of me said he really would.
