Fuck You Over

*Said I was a douche bag won't call back, worst hangover you ever had. Felt so good at first but you knew it would never last.*
I stared at the girl in the front seat. Was that really my only competition? I had to be up against something better than that, something more classy and less trashy perhaps?
"This is Violet, she goes to the high school down the road from ours." Ashton said smirking at me. I smiled and shook her hand.
"Hey, I'm Hunter. It's a pleasure to meet you." I said sitting back in my seat. Ashton stared at me questioningly before turning the car on.
"We're gonna make one more stop at my friend Luke's house real quick." He said to Violet. She nodded. Oh no, he knew he was on to me. I sighed heavily and did breathing exercises. I forgot about Luke's part in my plan. Pretend I wasn't madly in love with him… seems easy enough.

Chapter 1: Flirting and Fighting

"I'm happy you decided to still come to school." I smiled as Ally and I walked down the street to the bus stop. She sighed and pulled the string on her grey hoodie covering her face.

"I just wish everyone could pretend they never saw them." She said softly. People were standing in the street pointing and whispering about her. After the break up everyone who went to high school in our town had a very clear picture of Ally's boobs.

"I talked to Calum last week and Michael just laughed at me." I said. School had been a hard place for the both of us. With Ally rarely coming and everyone asking if she was open to experimenting it was hard to act as though nothing happened.

"Any luck with Luke?" She asked. I sighed. Luke was my long time crush and talking to him usually included horrible jokes and lots of smiling.

"None that'd be helpful." I said. She nodded and then looked beyond me.

"Well here's your chance." She said nodding to the place behind me. I turned around and Michael and Luke were leaning on the stop sign talking. Luke laughed at something and ran a hand through his golden hair. Was I the only one who saw this perfection?

"Why can't you ask?" I questioned sadly. She chuckled lightly and curled a strand of my long brown hair. She pointed to Luke and I sighed and walked over to him. Luke had his back to me but Michael didn't. He cocked his eyebrow at me but said nothing.

"Hey." I said looking at the group of shoes on the floor.

"Hey Hunter." Luke's voice rang in my ears beautifully. I looked back to Ally who was picking lint off her hoodie.

"Hey." I repeated looking up slightly.

"Hello." Luke said. I looked at his eyes which had amusement swimming in them.

"Hey." I smiled repeating myself.

"We get it Masters, what do you want?" Michael asked running a hand through his green hair. I sent him a death glare before returning my attention to Luke.

"Um, I just wanted to ask you a personal question." I said. Luke cocked his eyebrow and looked at Michael who just shrugged.

"Mikey, give us a minute." Luke said shooing his friend away. Michael left rolling his eyes and going to flirt with some freshmen. "So what's up?" He asks concerned. Or it seemed like he was concerned.

"Um, this is weird but I have a crush on Ashton." I said biting back my self-conscience from saying otherwise.

"You do? I didn't peg you as the girl." He said with an unreadable expression.

"Yeah, I just wanted to ask- oh god this is embarrassing- is there anyway I could get him to go out with me?" I asked. He looked taken aback.

"Um, wow, I don't know. I can put in a good word for you but I'm sorry I can't really help you." He said.

"Is there like a certain way I need to dress?" I ask. He looked down at me and looked at my clothes.

"Yeah, but I like your clothes. They're cute." He smiled at me. My heart did a flip and the butterflies in my stomach turned into hawks and they decided to party.

"Thanks, for everything." I smiled.

"I know you're smart, but don't let him hurt you." Luke said as I walked away. My head was spinning by then. Focusing was getting harder and harder.

"So class today I want to talk about betrayal," Ms. Holmes my history teacher said. "Betrayal is a huge part of are history. Presidents did it, countries did it, even war groups did it. Now let's talk about some people who betrayed. Hunter?" Ms. Holmes asked. I thought for a second before answering.

"Germany betrayed Russia in World War II, this resulted in Russia joining the United States' team." I said smoothly.

"Great example! World War II was a time of betrayal in and out of countries. Now betrayal is a serious matter even in your daily lives. So for your next report I'd like you to write about a serious betrayal you've experienced and compare it to a different one that you haven't. I'm interested to see what you all come up with." She said smiling. History was my favorite class and it was the one class where I didn't have to deal with my bullshit of a life and instead I got to learn about others bullshit of a life. The bell rung and everyone turned to leave. Ms. Holmes smiled at us as we exited the classroom. I walked down the hall to my locker. Leaning comfortably on my locker was Michael Clifford. I stood in front of him and placed a hand on my hip.

"You'd think your be more happy to see your favorite person." He smirked at me. I scoffed loudly at the boy.

"You're not even my favorite person to dislike." I said disgusted.

"Yeah I know. That's Ashton." He said smugly. I swallowed and walked away. He followed me."Oh come on Hunter! You can't stand Ashton. And I know about your thing with Luke." I turned on my heels swiftly.

"What thing?" I questioned fiercely.

"It doesn't take a doctorate degree to see you have a crush on Luke. He thought you did and then you went around and told him you like Ashton. He was going to ask you out." I had to pretend like what he was saying didn't make me want to ram my head into a toaster. Luke held feelings for me? He liked me?

"I like Ashton and I want to see if that'll turn into anything." I lied swiftly.

"Well spoiler alert: it won't." He said angrily. Why was he pushing this so hard?

"Look Michael, thanks for being concerned for my well being but I can handle myself." I said walking away from where I stood in the hall.

School ended on a happier note. I had passed my math test with a B+ and my science test with an A-. The cafeteria served tuna melts with French fries and I had the minimum amount of homework for the week. Ally left school early so I had to walk home alone. As I stepped out of the school doors I noticed that a lot of people were still inside. The outside was bright for a winter afternoon. There was no snow on the ground and no windy air spiraling around. I turned towards the main road and walked home. As I started I heard a honk from a car come from behind me. I turned back to see Luke's car driving closer to me. He rolled the windows down.

"Can I offer you a ride home?" He asks. I don't know if Michael is telling the truth about Luke liking me but I knew that when I started dating Ashton moments like this were going to be scarce.

"Thanks this is sweet." I smiled crossing my ankles and leaning back. He glanced over at me and smiled.

"So I told Ashton about you. He thinks your hot." Luke said his words coming off tensely.

"Thanks. I really wanted to talk to him soon." I said flipping my hair behind my shoulder.

"Do you have a plan of attack?" Luke asked his hand resting beside my thigh. I could feel his heat radiating over to me.

"Yeah, confess and then hope for the best." I said honestly. I really hadn't thought into it much. I had a simple task and I thought that my only obstacle would really be Luke.

"And if that doesn't work?" He asked.

"I'll have to pull out my stripper pole and seduce him into it- trust me my plan is full proof." I said confidently.

"You really don't know anything about Ashton, do you?" He asked chuckling to himself.

"No not really, but then again I only know what he allows the world to see." I shrugged

"And,personally, I think there's so much more than that." I shrugged. He looked at me in a way that said he understood and I was right. I didn't know Ashton when he was younger but from what I heard he wasn't half bad. Still a mini Casanova but not as heartless. Obviously something happened to make it that way.

"He does not deserve you in any way." Luke mumbled to himself angrily. I ignored it but smiled to myself. I knew he would hate me if he knew the real reason I did it. But who said he would figure it out?
