Fuck You Over

*Said I was a douche bag won't call back, worst hangover you ever had. Felt so good at first but you knew it would never last.*
I stared at the girl in the front seat. Was that really my only competition? I had to be up against something better than that, something more classy and less trashy perhaps?
"This is Violet, she goes to the high school down the road from ours." Ashton said smirking at me. I smiled and shook her hand.
"Hey, I'm Hunter. It's a pleasure to meet you." I said sitting back in my seat. Ashton stared at me questioningly before turning the car on.
"We're gonna make one more stop at my friend Luke's house real quick." He said to Violet. She nodded. Oh no, he knew he was on to me. I sighed heavily and did breathing exercises. I forgot about Luke's part in my plan. Pretend I wasn't madly in love with him… seems easy enough.

Hunter's POV

It's been about an hour since I last saw Ashton. Well, one problem out of the million I currently had. My next problem was standing in front of me.

She had long black hair and bluish gray eyes.

"I'm confused." I said shaking my head.

"Ok, so I'll explain from the beginning. Our parents had me when they were 15 and then they had you when they were 17, you had some medical problems and anyways they said you were going to die. Mom, Greta, said that the best chance was to put you up for adoption so you could have a real funeral."

"But I didn't die." I said.

"Yeah, surprisingly. Melody and her husband adopted you but you only got sicker. Melody and her husband were only 21 when they adopted you and when you got sicker the only thing they could think to do was to take you to the hospital. That's where your dad found you when you were in the bathtub he was making rounds as an intern." She said.

"So you knew I was alive?" I asked.

"No, dad broke up with mom when he found you. He moved away and started a family somewhere else. We thought you were dead." She cried. I leaned back. What the fuck was happening to my life.

"So," I said looking at the crying girl. "For the past 16 years or so you all believed, with no proof other than assumption, that I was dead?" I asked. She diverted her gaze and sighed.

"I'm sorry."

"I mean, your excuse sounds pretty solid. But I don't need you. I don't need Greta. All I need is my dad to take me home and for you to go back where ever you came from." She opened her mouth to say something but then she closed it.

"Look, we should've looked. We should've done a lot. But it doesn't matter what we didn't do, we can't go back. It's about what we are doing now."

"It's funny, what you're doing now and what you didn't do are almost the same thing."

"I get it, your mad. But could you think about someone other than yourself for two seconds?" She asked.

"You're right, I mean going into a coma and waking up to find you have this secret family? I'm so sorry for your trauma." I said rolling my eyes.

"I'm trying to help you."

"By making me accept something that I don't want to? Hyland, we've lived almost twenty years without knowing each other and we both turned out fine. But don't come in my life like your some golden missing piece."

"Masters!" I heard Michael say as he walked in and hugged me.

"Aye Clifford." I smiled. Hyland glanced at Michael and sighed.

"Later." She said walking away.

"Hottie with a body," Michael mumbled to me.

"Thank you, my body is very attractive." I teased.

"You scared the shit out of a lot of people. Are you ok?"

"Well surprisingly yes, I don't remember a thing." I said. I was lying. I remembered everything. Two months of lying hopelessly listening to the doubtful voices of everyone.

"Well, you didn't miss much. I'm still a straight C student." He chuckled.

"One thing I don't miss." I said rolling my eyes.

"I'm not going to lecture you on Ashton. I think I lectured Ashton enough on you." He said brushing my hair back. He bent down and kissed my forehead softly before standing up and walking to the door.

"Michael, thank you." I smiled at him.

"For what?"

"For never changing." I said. He nodded and walked out closing the door behind him. I sighed leaning farther into the bed. I pulled out the shiny silver ring and slid it on my finger.

"And this is a promise ring. Because I promise to love you forever and always. No matter what." I muttered, mimicking Ashton's speech.

She was the last person I expected to see in my hospital room. I expected the devil before even beginning to expect her.

But, here she was. Long black hair and bright blue eyes standing at the foot of my bed. She brought me a basket of muffins.

"What do you want?" I asked harshly. Her long acrylic nails tapped a beat on the wooden table by the window.

"You know," she said standing up and pacing aimlessly around the hospital room. ",when I first met you I immediately disliked you. You were bossy and bitchy and borderline rude."

"You've only met me once and I was in the backseat of Ashton's car while he felt you up in the front seat." I said. She raised a hand to quiet me.

"I met Ashton when he was 13. There was a girl, Catherine, she was this pretty little brunette. Catherine was always around Luke. Ashton didn't learn and he got hurt. Good pretty girls like you and Catherine are heartbreakers in disguise."

"Oh, and your just Virgin Mary mother of Jesus and giver of virtue." I rolled my eyes.

"Ha, I see why he's infatuated with you. You aren't a quarter of the spoiled brat you try to seem like." She says smirking.

"Is there a point in you being here?"

"Yes, I slept with Ashton and I'm sorry-"

"I doubt that."

"Well I am. Ashton has this thing where he latches on to people like him."

"As a friend, I comfort Ashton with my similar views on commitment." She continues

"So by being my boyfriend's casual sex partner you feel good about yourself?" I asked disgusted. Why was I even talking to her about anything?

"Ashton is in love with you! He tells me stories about you and he talks about you all the time. He told me about the popcorn girl and about the phone thing, anytime I talk to him you are mentioned. I never go for another girls man."

"Except when you seduced him the first time we started dating,"

"That was simply he and I having erotic sex." She shrugged.

"You do know the definition of erotic, correct?"

"That isn't the point. The point is, Ashton loves you so much and you being angry because he made a poorly judged mistake isn't going to fix your problems. You were in the hospital before your problems and look you're still here after them all." Violet shakes her head and runs a hand through her hair.

"Why are you here?" I asked. She smiled at me.

"Ashton just called me and the only thing I could tell him was to get tested." She said. A tear fell from her eye and she laughed.

"I lost my virginity at 14. I always knew I'd get tested positive, just...not so soon." She confessed.

"I'm sorry, I wouldn't wish that fate upon anyone."

"You wouldn't now that you know me. But I'm pretty sure 20 minutes ago you would've prayed it on me in a heartbeat." She smiled. I looked down ashamed that what she said was true. I would've done anything to keep her away from Ashton. Even curse her with a dreaded STD if I needed.

"Granted that is true, now that I know you, I have a different point of view on what your life's about. And thank you for apologizing about Ashton." I said softly.

"You're going to hurt him. It's going to be the most hurt he's ever felt. But, in the end I can't say I'm too surprised. You are a very spontaneous person." She says before walking out. I sigh and watch as she walks out of the room. I stare at the white walls.

And as if every problem just wants to crash down on me in big waves of hail Alyson walks in. I look at my IV drip and curse it. Kill me now.

"I just saw Violet, what did she want?"

"What do you want?" I asked annoyed.

"I heard you had an aneurism and I came to see if you were ok."

"We are taking a break, Ashton and I." I inform her.

"This isn't about Ashton. Are you ok?" She repeats looking into my eyes. I missed this Ally. The Ally that cared about me.

"You can cut the act and tell me the real reason you're here." I said coldly. She sighed and stood next to my bed.

"When you were under I couldn't help but think it was me who ended you up here. I've been a real bitch these last couple of months and it's even taken a toll on my own relationship." She chuckled.

"Luke was here earlier." I said. She waved a hand dismissing the blonde haired boy.

"A different guy, Louis Tomlinson from the frat house down the street from the college." She says.

"Louis's in my extra credit class, he's cute." I say nodding.

"Yeah, he's planning on moving to Africa to help the animals. He's leaving next week."

"And?" I asked. Was this actually happening?

"I'm done with Ashton. I know you love him and I'm done bothering you two. I want to start my own life. So, next week I'm going with Louis to Africa." She says smiling.

"Thank you and I'm happy you found someone." I smiled.

"He reminds me of you. Does everything to help others but nothing to help himself. I love you Hunter. We use to be so close and I ruined that all because of a boy. You're my best friend and when you and Ashton get married I expect a maid of honor place just for me." She giggles.

"Ally, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything you've been through and I'm even more sorry that I've been so unsympathetic to you.

"Oh, it's alright. You were right. Without you I wouldn't be me. I needed you and I was so close to losing you."

"You're going to make Louis a happy guy." I said smiling at the blonde haired girl.

"Yeah, so I see you aren't dead. That's good." She says pointing to my body.

"Yeah, I'm ecstatic." I said rolling my eyes.

"C'mon, I'm sure it's better than you think. I mean you could be dead." She points out.

"Are you dropping out of high school?" I asked.

"No, early walk candidate." She says.

"When do you walk?" I ask. She looks down at her watch and yawns.

"A few hours." She shrugs. I shake my head. I always assumed we would graduate together and go to college together and live together.

"That's soon, really really soon." I chuckled. She nodded as a tear ran down her face. I opened my arms to embrace her and I couldn't help but cry. My best friend was going off to live her dream with her dream guy.

"Don't be a stranger." I said as she pulled away.

"Wouldn't think of it." She chuckled. She walked to the door and leaned on the wall.

"You're beautiful Hunter and I'm sorry if I ever said otherwise." She said before walking out. I cried for a few hours. Ally was going on to do big things. And now I was free.

I was free but Ashton was no longer mine.
