Leaves of Lines [Poetry collection]

A compilation of my poetry ranging across the board. [I'm not depressed, by the way]

So far, these are all published as separate movellas, so you can either comment here on the whole, or if you want to leave comments on a specific poem, feel free to find that one in my list. Either way is fine with me! Photo cred: https://www.flickr.com/photos/109065142@N02/sets

7. Fire, Armadillos and Absolutely No Foolishness.

There once was an armadillo

He lived under the willow

with grass as his pillow

It was a happy life

until his wife

brought home some strife

She gave him a fireball

Told him it was really small

and wouldn't hurt him at all.

He ate it in one bite

And almost died of fright

and then really died because he was alight.

[Is the poem in jest?

Well, read the rest

and then decide

where my intentions reside.]

Armadillo heaven is not as it seems,

There are very high-minded themes.

Places to study, places to teach.

Places that even an armadillo can reach.

It is a commonly misconstrued fact,

that armadillos have no tact,

and that they are not the smartest of things,

with neither large brains or beautiful wings.

But an armadillo's beauty lies inside,

its hard outer casing and leathery hide,

They're beautiful creatures, really, they are,

just give them a chance, they're way up to par.

Don't dismiss the armadillo for being so odd,

I mean, how would you like it if you were named Rod?
