7. The prefects' bathroom

The prefects' bathroom

He finally admitted to like me. I realized how satisfying the feeling of being liked was. After finishing my studies in the library I went up to the Gryffindor common room. Ron was sitting in one of the armchairs in front of the fireplace obviously waiting for me.

"Where is Harry?" I asked carefully.

"Taking a bath," he answered slowly as if he had to think about it. "How was spending a 'second' with Malfoy? We waited for you at our house table for breakfast, for lunch and for dinner but you did not show up. At first we were worried about you, then we were searching for you and finally we gave it up. We realized you enjoy spending time with Malfoy more than sharing your time with us. I really don't want to offend you but I am not quite sure if you really give him information about Harry because you get information about him in exchange. It seems like you just need an excuse to meet him."

"Are you serious," I yelled unable to control my anger. "Draco does not want any information about Harry in exchange for accepting me in his group. He gives a damn about Harry and especially about you. He just wants to hang around with me. In fact he was really hurt when I told him I thought he wanted me to inform him about Harry."

"You do not seriously think he gives a damn about you? He does not even care about the friends he already has. None of Pansy, Crabbe or Goyle are popular with him. The only people that git cares about is his beloved family and You-Know-Who!" Ron grunted and looked at me.

"Even if he only loves his family and Lord Voldemort," I cried, ignoring Ron flinching at the name, "he at least loves anyone. He has feelings and he knows, how to take care of somebody. He does not offend me when I am down already, he does not cheer me up, that's right too, but he does not kick me down, unlike you."

Tears running down my cheeks I turned around and left the common room. I ran down the corridor not knowing where to go as it was only 8pm. I still had two hours to go and decided to go back to the common room to grab some nice clothes out of my dormitory and take a relaxing bubble bath. After avoiding Ron twice I headed to the prefects' bathroom. Just as I wanted to enter I heard a voice on the other side of the door. I waited until I recognized Moaning Myrtle was the one to talk. When I sneaked inside I stopped in my tracks as I saw the silhouette of someone in the bath tub. How could I have been so stupid? Of course there would be someone taking a bath, Myrtle does not talk to herself does she? Whoever was sitting in the tub was obviously enjoying hot water as the steam was too thick to figure out who it was.

"Who is it?" a familiar voice asked and as I came nearer to see who it was surprise struck me. "Join in if you want to, Hermione. There's enough space for both of us."

It only took me ten seconds to decide until I got rid of my clothes and joined Draco.

"Oh my gosh you really do like your water warm," I realized. "It's about 90 degrees in here. What are you doing here actually? Nobody ever baths at this time"

"I wanted to take a bath before meeting you," he replied and I bet he went red but I couldn't see his face with all the steam. "How about you?"

"Ron annoyed me," I told him. "Ever since he left me with you in the train he is permanently annoyed."

"I am sorry," he whispered "How could I have missed out on the chance of being around you. If it makes you feel less worse Ron also annoys me. I do not really get why he is so upset with you spending time with me. In my opinion it is your decision whom to spend time with and not his."

"I totally agree that's what I just told him literally half an hour ago." I recited and turned towards him.

I used the seconds of silence, before Draco was ready to answer and softly pushed my lips on his. For a second I felt insecure as I had never done anything like this before but he kissed me back and I slowly moved my hand towards his body. Not sure whether to touch him or not I decided to just keep it slow. Before I could decide anything at all his right hand was in my hair and his left one was pulling me closer. Encouraged by him doing this move first I placed myself on his lap and my hands were all over his body. I do not know how long we were lasting like that until he softly pushed my head away a little bit. At first I thought he did not want me and made a mistake, but I felt his body shaking of laughter.

"What are you laughing about?" I wanted to know afraid of him laughing about me.

"That was actually what I had planned for the meeting in my common room," he chuckled. "We can just stay here too, of course. I actually planned being in the common room on my own waiting for you. That's why I told you it was a party we were doing for you and begged my friends to get together somewhere else. You will never believe me how pleased I was to see you join me here."

"Yeah, I heard a voice in here and soon realized it was Myrtle," I explaine. "What were you talking about anyways? Wait...Myrtle did you watch us?"

"Only at the beginning," she admitted bluntly. "After half an hour it was getting boring."

"Half an hour." Draco and I whispered at once.

"What time is it Myrtle?" I wanted to know.

"Midnight." she answered at once.

Obviously,Draco was as alarmed as I was as he got up as fast as me.

"It was a really nice surprise meeting you in here," I let Draco know. "Plus it is great to be on first name terms with you Draco."

"I totally agree Hermione," he whispered in my ear and kissed my neck. "We should meet her every Saturday at 8pm."

"Yes we should." I agreed and stood on tiptoe to kiss him once again.

It was really hard to get my lips of his but the fact that I would see him again in about eight hours made it easier. I kissed him good-bye and sneaked back to Gryffindor tower luckily without getting noticed.
