5. Dinner In The Great Hall

Dinner In The Great Hall

Just like all the other students I ran the way towards the castle and up the stairs to the entrance hall in order to flee from the rain. It was so slippery, I almost fell on the muddy ground. I walked up to the entrance of the Great Hall and the first to catch my eye was the small, toad-like woman sitting next to Dumbledore. She was wearing a bright pink costume and a hat about three times the size of her head. While trying to figure out who she was and what she intended to do at Hogwarts, Harry and Ron arrived.

"Her-mio-ne Granger!" Ron bellowed and ran up to me. "Harry and  stood in the pouring rain waiting for you. By the time we saw you leave the train with Malfoy we were soaking wet. What the heck were you thinking? What did you do in that carriage with him anyways."

"Calm down Ron. It was nothing. In fact it was your fault anyway! If you hadn't left me behind with him to search Harry he would not have had the chance to pull me to his department. It was not actually great sitting around with 5 Slytherins, you know." I whispered tears of anger in my eyes.

"Why don't we just forget this and get going, I'm hungry." Harry begged us and as if he had wanted to proof it, his stomach started grumbling.

I scowled at Ron and strode towards the Gryffindor table.

"Sad thing you cant sit with us Granger," Malfoy shouted from across the room. "You could sit right beside me, well if Pansy would move up a little bit."

The fact that he shouted across the hall at me confused me too much too even ask myself how he got into the Great Hall before me. Pansy first glared at him then at me, showing me that I'm clearly not welcome to sit between the two of them. However not only Pansy was staring at me, many students had turned around to face me.

"Hermione, move." Harry said impatiently and softly started pushing me from behind.

"Move Hermione or do you want me to kick you to OUR table." Ron grunted, emhpasizing 'our'.

I threw back my hair not even looking at Ron and went towards Gryffindor table trying to decide where to sit.

There was a single spot next to Fred I could sit or the space next to Ginny where the three of us would fit. Of course I didn't want to sit with the boys but I valued my friendship with Ginny too, so I automatically walked towards her. Seating myself next to her I hoped Harry would sit down beside me and he did so. After Dumbledore's speech I could not wait any longer and had to tell the boys about my plan regarding the Slytherins.

"Harry, Ron please listen to me for a second," I addressed my friends, seeing Ron's look of disapproval."Ron don't give me that look, it's okay for you to eat while I talk. Malfoy offered me to join his group of friends. That way I can keep you up to date with all his information on You-Know-Who. If he's not hanging around with his friends he actually seems quite friendly."

I felt my cheeks go red as Harry and Ron burst into laughter and helped myself to a pumpkin pasty in order to hide my face. As they finished laughing, I gave the both of them a nasty look.

"In return for him accepting me in his group without being a Slytherin, I will probably to spy on you Harry." I confided and blushed.

"No never." Ron responded. "Information about Harry is far more valuable than information about Malfoy. Everything you'll tell him will be reported to You-Know-Who straight away."

"I'm sorry to hurt your feelings Ron but it's not your decision. It's Harry`s." I snapped and carefully looked at him.

"It's ok to me," Harry spoke and I let out a squeak of victory. "Only if you give us more information on him than the other way round. And you only give him information I allow you to pass on ok?"

I nodded too busy with eating than being able to talk. Ron did not look pleased at all which perhaps was the reason I was the only prefect leading the first-years up to Gryffindor tower later that night.
