4. I Know You!

~~*One month later*

"You're still asleep at this hour?!" Father, yes I said Father, says.

"I just woke up," I mumble.

"I got you something," he says as he hands me a box. I sit up and open it to reveal a beautiful forest green and crisp white gown.

"Oh my! It's beautiful!" I gush, "What's the occasion?"

"What? A father needs a purpose to dote over his daughters?" he says, "I was hoping you would wear it to the ceremony today."

One of the maids take the dress from my hands as I walk over to the dressing screen.

"What ceremony?" I ask as the maid pulls the strings on the corset.

"Admiral Norrington's promotion ceremony of course!" He says, "How's it going?"

"I'm not exactly sure," I say as the maid pulls again.

"I hear they're the latest fashion in London," he says.

"Well, women in London must have learned how to not breathe," I say earning a chuckle from him.

"Elizabeth said the same thing," he says, "It figures seeing as how you two are so alike."

The maid helps pull the dress up over my hips and onto my body. Once I get the dress on, I step out from behind the screen.

"You look lovely," father says.

"Thank you," I say.

"The seamstress said it would bring out your eyes, and she was correct!" he says referring to my bright green eyes.

"Sit down," Mary, the maid that help with the dress says. I quickly sit in the chair next to the dressing table. She takes to doing my hair.

Twenty minutes later, I emerge from my room fully dressed with my hair in a beautiful curly updo.

I'm suprised that Mary didn't see the doubloon tattoo. It is right in the middle of my back. Right below where the neckline of the dresses I'm forced to wear ride.

"Finally! I was getting worried," Elizabeth says. I roll my eyes at her remark and walk down the stairs.

*A few hours later*

Norrington asked to speak with Elizabeth, and father was speaking to someone from the East India Trading Company, so I decided to take a walk.

I easily sneak out and head to the docks. I take my heels off and walk bare foot.

I hear talking coming from one of the docks that are off limits to civilians. I look down through one of the cracks in between the planks of wood and see two soldiers and a pirate.

I quickly kneel down and listen in.

"This dock is off limits to civilians," Murtogg says.

"I'm terribly sorry, I didn't know. If I see one, I shall inform you immediately," the pirate says. He tried to get through, but Murtogg and Mullroy stop him.

Those dunces. Don't they know never to stop a pirate when he wants to go somewhere?

"Apparently there's some sort of high-toned and fancy to-do up at the fort, eh? How could it be that two upstanding gentlemen, such as yourselves, did not merit an invitation?" the pirate asks. I know that voice! Jack Sparrow.

I hang my head over the edge of the boards, so I can see them clearly, and say, "Because they are to keep this dock off limits to civilians!"

I quickly do a flip off the dock and down into the sand where they are standing.

"Murtogg, Mullroy, as you were," I command them.

"Who are you?" Sparrow asks.

"Alexandra Harlow, the Governors adopted daughter," I explain, "And you must be Jack Sparrow."

"Captain. Captain Jack Sparrow," he corrects me.

"What's a captain without a ship?" I ask, "Because I certainly don't see one!"

"My ship was stolen," he slurs.

"By Barbossa?" I ask.

"How do you..?" he questions.

"I've heard stories about the Pearl and who it's captain is," I say, "Let me guess, you've come to commandeer a ship?"

"Maybe," he mumbles.

"Then what's your purpose in Port Royal, Mr. Sparrow?" Mullroy asks.

"Yeah, and no lies," Murtogg adds.

"Well, then, I confess, it is my intention to commandeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Tortuga, raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer my weasely black guts out," Sparrow says to them as he stands at the helm of the ship.

"I said no lies," Murtogg says.

"I think he's telling the truth," Mullroy says.

"If he were telling the truth, he wouldn't have told us," Murtogg says.

"Unless, of course, he knew you wouldn't believe the truth even if he told it to you," Sparrow says.

Murtogg and Mullroy look dumbfounded. Jack takes this moment to walk right past them and to the ship. I follow him.
