18. The Tunnel

As I headed into the Everfree Forest, I soon realized how scary it really was. The moon and stars promising light that gave me hope within my underground prison cell, was now blocked out by the eerie tree conopies. The trees appeared to have arms that tried to grab you. I ducked down, listening and jumping at any sudden noise I heard. As a tree branch cracked I shreiked with shock. But just when I thought all was okay and tried to move on, I heard a low growling sound. I saw a Timberwolf glaring at me through a hedge. I screamed as I ran in the direction the map was showing me. As the timberwolf got closer, I felt that I wasn't going to make it to the tunnel in time. But just before the Timberwolf could catch me in it's gigantic jaws, I managed to delve into the entrance of the tunnel the map led me too. Just before the Timberwolf could dive into the tunnel after me, I used my magic to form a yellow forcefield. I gasped at another spell I managed to succeed in doing. But luckily through my excitement and relief I managed to reform my spell. Because everytime I get excited, I end up uncasting my spell. The timberwolf couldn't get past my forecfield, and after 10 minutes of trying, then waiting, it eventually gave up, and ranaway. Just to be sure, I moved a large rock across the entrance so it couldn't come back again and get into me.

I turned to look down the dark tunnel, now hidden in total darkness. I closed my eyes, and tried to form a spell to turn my horn into a beacon of light. I didn't do just that though. Instead of using just my light spell, I also managed to uncover a new spell that allowed me to see where crystals were buried beneath the ground. It appeared like this tunnel was surrounded by a gold mine of crystals. I couldn't care less about crystals though. I had seen enough crystals to never want to see one ever again! I began trotting eagerly down the tunnel, only just realizing how long the tunnel really was. In order to get to Canterlot, you must take a train. The journey from the Crystal Empire to Ponyville is just as long. I said with wonder "how on earth did they manage to did a tunnel that long?! And where will the tunnel come out?! It seems the maps instructions end at the start of the tunnel! It doesn't show the exit!" I thought to myself 'it must have taken monthes to dig this tunnel, even with using magic as strong as the princesses!' I continued to walk down the tunnel, passing massive clumps of crystals buried beneath the ground on the floor, walls, and ceiling. If King Sombra could see this, he'd have us Crystal Ponies digging for days with no rest to uncover them all! I could finally see light at the end of the tunnel. As I approached I thought to myself 'is it daytime already?! How long have I been travelling down in this tunnel?!'.
