22. Crying, Shopping, Hanging Out, and more Crying

Lily's POV

After Emma ran into her dads bunk, the room filled with awkward silence as we took the duct tape off our mouths. Darcy walked back out crying.

"Oh my god what happened? Is she okay? Are you okay?" I asked. Lacey looked at me.

"Hey that's my job." she said sadly making us all giggle a little.

"Yeah she cried herself to sleep. I am crying for her." she said. I nodded understandingly. I patted the space next to me and she came, so I hugged her. It went quiet again until we heard sobbing. I sat up and walked to where Emma was. She was hugging her knees to her chest.

"What's wrong this time?" I asked.

"He promised." she sniffled. He promised her something?

"What did he promise you?" I asked. She shook her head as I rubbed her back soothingly.

"He promised he wouldn't leave me." she said now looking at me. I remembered that night, she thought all of us were going to leave.

"But you still have us." I said trying to cheer her up but it wasn't working.

"No, you don't know how much promises mean to me. They are my only hope when people say they will do something." she said still silently crying.

"Can I go out there for a second? I will come right back." I asked. She nodded and held out her pinky. I wrapped my pinky around hers to say I promise. I walked into the living room crying. I walked right up to Zack and slapped him as hard as I could. I could see the pain in his eyes.

"How dare you." I said through gritted teeth. "You don't make promises unless you can keep them." I added and ended with another slap before heading back to Emma.

"You should punch him one day, for all the hurt he caused you." I said. She looked at me.

"Can it just be a slap?" she asked. I nodded. She started getting up.

"Where are you going?" I asked grabbing her wrist.

"To slap Zack." she said. I followed her into the living room and she walked over to Zack. Everyone was watching her every move. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her eyes shot open and she immediately slapped Zack across the face. I smiled shocked. I didn't think she would actually do that. You could see the others watching in shock also. She slapped him once more before returning to her dads bunk.

"Why did you make her do that?!" Zack yelled.

"I didn't make her do anything, it was her decision." I said calmly. Zack was going full rage. It actually scared me. The others were scared of what he was going to do. He raised his hand to slap me. The parents shot up put of their seats. As his hand almost touched my face, it was grabbed.

"Bad decision, Malik." Emma said through gritted teeth.

"And what are going to do about it, Horan?" he asked. She was still holding his arm so she flipped him. She lifted him up by his collar.

"Got anything else to say?" she asked roughly.

"I should've hit you instead." he said and pushed her to the ground. I knew Emma had this. She was going to win. Emma jumped into a ninja position. Zack threw a punch but she dodged it.

"Real men aren't suppose to hit girls." Emma said looking into his eyes. She always gets lost in them.

"Emma don't." I said. They locked eyes before Zack tripped her. She landed hard on the floor but she didn't move. I ran to her and saw a small pile of blood by her head. I grabbed her head to see if her eyes were open. Just lightly. Now my right hand was covered in blood.

"Call an ambulance or something, she's dying!" I yelled.
