Return to You

Short poem against depression. I'm not depressed and never have been, so I can't write from experience. To be honest, I have no idea where this came from, but the words came so easily.

1. Return to You

Run away

and close the door.

Is there anything

worth living for?

You try to hide

your awful past,

but can’t quite manage;

you’re falling fast.

Hands reach out,

they search for yours,

but you slip away

for distant shores.

You wile away

hour upon hour.

Comfort beckons

yet still you cower.

Hidden away

in darkest place,

too sad, too scared

to show your face.

To give up is not

an option here,

for deep within

this voice you hear.

Drawing you out,

bringing you forth,

reinforcing your mind

and your own self-worth.

It speaks the truth

and nothing more

the return to you

does it implore.

Safe and sound,

healing but strong,

away from lies

you know are wrong.

Beautiful

is what you are.

Honest, too,

it stretches far.

Wonderful,

in every way.

Don’t leave us now,

I want you to stay.

This is the first time I've ever published anything mildly emotional, and my first published poem. Please let me know what you think. Again, I am in no way depressed; This truly came out of nowhere.
