Moving to a new town (Vampire Diaries Movella)

my name is Carrie Anderson and i'm the new kid in town.
I just moved from New York to Mystic Falls, but what i don't know is things are about to get a whole lot more exciting then they were in New York, and some not in the good way

16. Return of Foes and Friends

Carrie's POV

I watched as a smirk lightly graced Klaus's lips, staring at Damon like he was just some beggar on the streets.

"Miss me, Salvatore?" Klaus taunted.

"Not particularly. To be honest, I never thought I would see you until the next century. Seems none of your siblings were smart enough to dagger you when they had the chance." Damon spat.

"They're a bit tied up at the moment. Seems I got to them before they could get to me."

"Just my luck." Damon growled, looking over at me

"Umm, do you two know each other then? And what's this talk about siblings and daggering?" I asked cautiously.

"Damon is an old acquaintance of mine, Love." Klaus replied, still eyeing Damon.

"Then why do you hate each other?" I questioned.

"Because this guy's been a jerk since the day he was born and doesn't know when to quit the revenge business." Damon chimed in.

"I'll pretend I understand that." I responded quietly.

"You see, Love, my family and the Salvatores never really got along. It's turned me against my siblings, and it's time for them to pay for it... eventually. However, that's not why I'm here." Klaus smiled deviously.

"Do you have a few other people you'd like to practice killing before you get to me and Stefan?" Damon mocked.

"No. I have business to take care of, involving a few friends of mine; but don't be worried, I'll get to you and your brother soon." Klaus grinned even more and began to walk away, but then he paused and turned around to face us again.

"Carrie, how do you know this one?" he asked, nodding his head towards Damon.

"He's my boyfriend." I replied shakily.

Klaus turned again and walked away, but when I blinked my eyes he was gone from sight.

I turned to Damon, looking at him thoughtfully, trying to form my question,

"So, now that I know a bit about the feud going on between you two, tell me, what is daggering?"

Lydia's POV

I had gotten into my place late last night after hanging out with Matt. It had been a while since I had been at my own house. I had lived with Damon for the past month because I was waiting for my brother Josh to finally control his blood lust. He wasn't downstairs when I had gotten home, so I decided to just go to bed and hope he was going to be in his room in the morning.

When I woke up I slowly crept to his room and knocked on the closed door.

"Who is it?" his deep voice questioned, he sounded tired.

"It's Lydia." I replied hesitantly.

I heard no response, but the door swung open, causing me to stumble forward into two strong arms. I looked up to find myself staring into the brown eyes of my brother.

"I see your still a bit of a klutz." he chuckled, helping me stand upright.

"Some things never change." I replied sheepishly.

Josh pulled me into a tight hug.

"I missed you, sister." he whispered into my hair.

"I missed you too."

We pulled away. He turned away from me for a moment, then sat down on his bed. He patted the spot beside him, motioning for me to sit with him, and I did.

"How do you feel?" I questioned cautiously.

"I'm able to sit next to a human without trying to rip into their neck, so I think I'm doing very well. I feel almost like I've been reborn." He explained.

"You look a lot better than you did when you first turned." I complimented, not really sure what to say.

"Hmm?" I looked up at him, but I noticed a tear staring to fall down his cheek.

"Are you scared of me?" he asked, shaking slightly, trying to control his emotions.

"Of course not, Josh! It's just, you're different now, your emotions are heightened, and it's just going to take some getting use to. I would never be scared of you." I grabbed his  hand and squeezed it reassuringly.

"I was scared of myself for a while. I almost killed the mail man. I never thought I would have been able to control myself..." he trailed off, moving his hand to run it through his short, dark brown waves.

"But you did control it, and your going to be just fine. Here, I have something for you." I told him, reaching into my back pocket of my jeans I pulled out an intricate silver ring.

The ring coiled around and at the front was two snake heads with a small green gem caught between their mouths. I handed him the ring.

"What's this for?" he questioned.

"It's your daylight ring. I had Bonnie make it for you last night. You can walk in the sun now." I smiled as he placed it on his ring finger on his left hand.

"Thanks, Dia!" he pulled me into another hug, but we were interrupted by a sharp knock on the front door down stairs.

"Stay here, I'll see who it is." I told Josh as I got up and left the room, but not before I grabbed his old baseball bat by his door.

I walked down the stairs and hid the bat behind my back and then slowly opened the door to reveal none other than the face of Klaus.

"Jesus, Klaus, don't scare me like that!" I exclaimed, pulling the bat out from behind my back.

"I hope you didn't plan on using that on me." he replied, gesturing to the bat.

"Only if you gave me a reason to" I countered.

"Touché. I see you're still as feisty as ever." he replied.

"Who else is gonna keep you on your toes, Hybrid?" I remarked smugly.

"Good point. Now will you please invite me in?" he asked.

"Fine, come in Niklaus Mikaelson" I exclaimed, adding a dramatic hand flourish into my home.

"Thank you." he stepped inside the house.

"No problem. I suppose you didn't come to see me?" I guessed.

"You would be correct. Perhaps you could tell me where we are keeping our little vampire?" he questioned.

"I figured that's who you wanted. I'll go and get him." I ran up the stairs into Josh's room only to find him waiting in the doorway.

"Your creator is here to see you."

"So I see. Should I go and talk to him?" Josh looked down the stairs at Klaus.

"You know very well how he gets when he's angry, so I think you better, unless you want him to kill one of us." I cautioned him.

"Fine." Josh raced down the stairs at vampire speed to stand in front of Klaus.

"What do you want?" Josh asked nonchalantly.

"Well first, I wouldn't mind a little respect. After all, you're the one who wanted me to turn you." Klaus smirked.

"I suppose." Josh agreed.

"Secondly, I have come on the behalf of your brother, Marcus. He thought I should come and check on you, make sure the transition went smoothly."

"It went as smoothly as it probably could, besides the part where I tried to kill my own sister, the mail man, and had to lock myself up in here for a month." Josh retorted.

"You wanted to be a vampire, that's how it happens, sorry for the inconveniences, but it isn't my problem, so you should be a bit more grateful. I'm sure your sister would have been if I turned her." Klaus stepped towards Josh, standing dangerously close.

"Leave her out of this. I'm fine, so you can run back to Marc and tell him, and leave us alone." Josh spat.

"Klaus, he doesn't know what he's saying, he's still trying to get over the emotional changes. Don't do anything to him." I said as I ran down the steps and stepped in between the two.

Klaus looked down at me and smirked.

"Don't worry, Love, I won't do anything to him; but I can't say the same for you." He leaned in close to me at that last part, whispering. I could feel his breath on my neck and the next thing I know a sharp pain replaces the light sensation of his exhalation.

I was dropped to the floor crying out in pain as Josh quickly knelt by my side.

"What the Hell Klaus! That's my sister you just bit!" he shouted, the veins under his eyes turning black, his fangs showing.

"I told her I wouldn't hurt you, but I still needed to teach you some manners. If you step out of line, she gets hurt, and it'll be much worse each time." Klaus smiled venomously as he walked towards the door, turning back to look at us.

"Pleasure seeing you all. I hope we can do this again soon, perhaps with a bit less blood though. "Klaus smirked before walking out the door, closing it behind him.

I watched desperately as Josh bit into his wrist, shoving it to my lips and forcing a few drops to fall into my mouth. Slowly, I could feel my wound healing

"I'm gonna kill him." Josh whispered.

"You can't! A) He's an original and can't be killed, and B) if you do anything to him, he'll hurt me. If he kills me, what the Hell do you think your gonna do then?" I tried to reason with him.

"I don't know. I just can't let him get away with this though." Josh argued.

"He wont get away with anything. I'll call Marc tomorrow and tell him what happened. If anything, he knows how to keep Klaus in line." I told him.

"I'll never understand how our brother could be friends with such a monster." Josh spat.

"Klaus wasn't always like that, Josh, just remember that. Never forget that, or you'll go down the same path as him."
