16. Chapter 14

POV Louis

"Can he come home yet?" I asked the doctor. He sighed and grabbed a pen from his pocket.

"Yes. But I need you to make sure Mr.Styles takes it easy. He needs lot of rest." He explained. I nodded.

"Will do. Thank you."

He smiled and shook my hand. "Pleasure."

The doctor disappeared down the hall, his white jacket draping behind him. We had been sitting in the same chairs for the past ten hours and I was tired and needed a shower. Emily had spent most of her time with Harry, she was the only one who could see him.

Harry came walking in, leaning on Emily for support. His head was wrapped in white cloth, his curls being pushed back strangely. I smiled and gave him a hug. If something would've happened to him I don't know what I would've done.

"Feeling okay?" I asked opening the door for everyone. The air was nice and crisp, the smell overpowering the overwhelming lemon aroma from the hospital.

"Much better." He said. I smiled and unlocked the van.

"I'll drive." Carrie offered jumping into the drivers seat before I could object. I sighed and jumped into the back with Harry and Emily.

"Are the flashbacks getting better?" Emily asked patting her fathers arm.

"They aren't as often." He sighed.

"Of Anna?" I whispered. He nodded.

The way he said it felt like he loved the flashbacks, being able to see Anna again but it was still painful to know they weren't real. I wish I could see Anna again. Just to be able to run my hands through her soft blonde hair or have her body curled up in my arms one last time would be amazing. I miss her so much.

When we finally arrived home, the rest of the family was seated in the living room, relief flashing across their faces at the sight of Harry. They all embraced him in hugs, some more awkward than others.

"Carrie, can I have a word now?" I asked. She bit her lip and followed me upstairs to our bedroom. Anna's bedroom to be more precise. She sighed and plopped down on the edge of the bed.

"Care to explain." I scowled. She took a deep breath and pulled the loose strands of hair behind her ear.

"I made a mistake."

I remained silent.

"Doug from work invited me to dinner a week ago." Carrie began. "We went to his room afterward."

I brought my hand up in the air. "Don't. Don't even."

"I'm sorry Louis." She mumbled. How could she?

"Is that who you were going to see last night? Doug? So he could fuck you again?" I fumed. She flinched from my harshness. "How many times have you?"

She bit her lip.

"How many?!" I screamed.

"Four." Carrie sighed. I can't believe this.

I clenched my fists together and collided them with the wall, the dent was already visible, the paint and drywall crumbling along the cracks.

"Louis!" She screamed trying to grab my arm. I shook her off.

"How could you do this to me?!" I yelled. I excepted her to cry. To beg for my forgiveness. But instead, her face turned red in anger.

"How could I do this?! What about you! Maybe if you would give me some type of attention every once and awhile I wouldn't have to go to another guy!" Her voice was much louder than mine. I've never seen her this angry.

She threw her hands up in disbelief. "I need someone to love me!"

"I do love you!" I protested. Carrie laughed mockingly.

"No! You don't! You love her!" She wailed. I hadn't even noticed she was crying. "When I met you I could tell you were broken because of her! Even when I married you I knew you had this connection! But you love her more than you love me! Your in love with a dead girl! Your so caught up in what once was your missing now! I'm alive, she's not!"

"Get out." I demanded opening the door for her. The color drained from her red face.

"What?" She gasped.

I swallowed the lump forming in my throat. "Leave. I'm done."

Carrie opened her mouth to say something but closed it before storming out. I slammed the door and buried my head in my hands. She's wrong. I'm not in live with Anna. Just cause she's not here doesn't mean I can't love her. Carrie is wrong.

But just as always, while I think over my mistakes, Carrie is right.

So this chapter is short for a good reason. A reader brought up a good plot idea so I decided to think about it. I found things from before that could be called hints. I will gladly feel you the readers name at the end of the next chapter. Thank you.

I love you to the moon and back
