1. Chapter 1.

"What can I get you?" The lady glances up at the menu before speaking.

"A blueberry muffin and a vanilla latte, please." I nod, punching numbers into the register. I look over at my co-worker, Emily. "Vanilla latte." She just nods and starts making it. I walk over to where the fresh baked treats are, picking up a blueberry muffin and plopping it into the bag.

"Here you go, ma'am." I smile, handing her the bag. "Your latte will be ready over there." She moves aside and walk over to Emily who's just finishing the lady's order. "How's your day going so far?" She shrugs, looking over to me.

"Wish time would go faster," The bell by the door dings, signaling someone has entered the cafe. Emily's eyes travel behind me and she smirks. "Hottie 101." I look over my shoulder and a guy who looks about 18 with blonde hair, wearing a red flannel is standing by the counter looking up at the menu. I turn my attention back to Emily and sigh.

"Guess I'm going to go deal with him." She smirks and walks over to her work area.

"Hop on that. Damn he's hot." I shake my head smiling, and walk over to the counter.

"What can I get you?" He looks at me with the cutest smile on his face.

"Can I get a Caramel Macchiato, please." I nod, punching numbers in the register.

"Anything else?" He shakes his head and I look over at Emily. "A Caramel Macchiato." She nods and gets to work. I look back at the guy and he's still standing at the counter. He catches me staring at him and I look away, feeling my cheeks turning red. I walk over to Emily's work area. She finishes making his drink and sets it down on the counter. "Caramel Macchiato." He walks over and picks the drink up, smiling.

"Thank you." Emily smiles and starts cleaning up her work area. I look at the time on my phone and see that my shift is over. "Okay Em, I'm going to go now. See you on Wednesday, okay?" She nods and I walk over to the back room to get my stuff. After making sure I got everything, I walk out of the room and over to Emily. "Bye, text me if you're free later and want to chill." She nods, giving me a hug.

"You'll probably see me later." I walk out from around the counter and the guy I served a few minutes ago is still standing there.

"May I help you?" He smiles, and turns to face me. My eyes travel to Emily who's standing at the counter he's leaning on. 'get his number' she mouths and I quickly look back at the guy, ignoring Emily.

"Well, I was going to ask you when you're done your shift, if you want to grab a coffee with me." I raise my eyebrows. I don't even know him? For all I know, he could be planning my funeral.

I scoff. "For all I know, you could be an axe murderer," He lets out a laugh, showing his cute dimples.

"There's always that possibility!" I smile and look up at him. "I guess I'll stay for a little while longer." I went back around the counter and over to the register, buying myself a Cinnamon Dolce Latte. I walk over to a table by the window where the guy is already sitting down, drinking his macchiato. I sit down across from him, hanging my purse over the side of the chair.

"So, do you always ask strangers out for coffee?" He looks up from the table and to what it looks like, smiles. He puts his arms up, propping them up on the table and resting his chin in his hands.

"Only the beautiful ones." A guy has never made me blush so quickly before. I look away, taking a sip of my latte. I look out the window watching all the cars drive by --- mainly trying to think of an escape route.
I finished the last of my drink and stood up, grabbing my purse.

"Well, I'm going to head home now. It was nice meeting you." I fake a smile and turn to leave.

"Wait," I hear him say and feel a hand grab my arm. I turn my head around and look at him, raising my eyebrows.

"I forgot to formally introduce myself. I'm Luke." He brings his hand out for me to shake. I look up at him and he's smiling his little cute smile with the dimples. I bring my hand up and shake his, finally making eye contact.

"I'm Alexis," he nods and pulls his phone out from his pocket.

"I know we just met but if you're free during the week, we can I don't know.. go to the movies or something." I get what he's trying to say and grab his phone, putting in my number. He smiles as I give his phone back and he puts it back in his pocket, grabbing his brown leather jacket from the chair. "See you around," I nod and he walks out the door, not giving me a second glance.

"Tell me every single detail!" Emily squeals, bouncing up and down excitedly on my bed.

"We just talked and had coffee. Nothing exciting." She gives me a look and stands in front of me.

"Alexis Grace, you can't lie to me," she uses my middle name when she's trying to be serious. I can't take her serious since she always cracks a smile.

"Okay, he asked if I'm free later this week, if we could chill so, I gave him my number." I stand up and she slaps my arm.

"What was that for?" I walk over to where I had my phone plugged in.

"He likes you," she says in a high pitch voice, sitting back down on my bed. I just ignore her and check if I have any new messages. 1 new message. I slowly open it, taking a glance at Emily who's laying in my bed reading a book.

Unknown number: Have a good night, love. :-) xx

With out even having to think of who this could be, I save the number and click reply.

Me: You, too. x

"Who are you texting?" I swear this girl has psychic sidekick powers or something. I look over at her and crinkle my eyebrows. "Well, you must be texting someone 'cause you have been smiling down at your phone for the past five minutes. Let me guess..the mystery guy?" I set my phone on the end table and walk over to the bed sitting down.

"His name is Luke." I roll my eyes and she sits up.

"Wait, what's his last name?" I shrug and she pulls out my laptop, typing in something in Google.

"What are you doing?" I lie down beside her and she re-adjusts herself on the pillows.

"He looks familiar. Ah-ha!" I prop onto my elbows, looking over at the laptop screen. When I see what she is 'ah ha-ing' about, I sit straight up and grab the laptop from her.

"That's him."
