9. Chapter 9

'If you want to have the telescope..' We're on our way downstairs after Harry comforted me. I never thought I'd be able share my thoughts with someone, but in Harry's presence I find I'm capable of a lot of things. And that's what friends are for. 'No, I couldn't. It's yours.' He refuses, polite as he is. 'Well okay, but you can use it if you want.' I heard how much he would want to have it, when he talked about it. And I'd like to have someone around here, more often. It's a win for everyone.
Just as I place my foot on the last step at the bottom of the stairs, the bell rings. As if they knew I had totally forgotten about them when I was upstairs. Luckily, none of them had arrived when we were in the attic and me and Harry answer the door together.
'Hey guys.' Alice's melodious voice lightens up my mood and shatters the bad memories in my mind. She's immediately followed by the enthusiastic brothers Selley who were running up to the house. 'What on earth were you two doing?' Harry laughs at them. 'Oh don't even ask.' Alice answers before either of the can say something. I let my three friends into my house and show them around, just like I did with Harry. only this time, we skip the attic. We stay in my room chatting until Kat calls us from downstairs, for dinner.
I try to hide my nerves from everyone else. It's been so long since I've brought friends home and this is actually really important to me. I want a normal life.

'So how are all of you doing in school?' I'm sat next to Joe, while Kat has the word and doesn't hold back on interrogating my friends. I wish I could say something about it but in their voices I can't detect any discomfort, which puts my mind at ease. 'Well I have to say that Ben is a real nerd.' Matt is the first one to respond. I bow my head and laugh silently. If someone isn't a nerd it's Ben. All of us know that, but Kat seems convinced by Matt. 'Well, that's good to hear.'
I mouth a thank you to Matt, hoping he sees it. 'Did you want to say something, Isabella?' Kat apperently saw my communication with Matt. Harry clears his throat to distract Kat, but it doesn't help. 'Eh, no. Nothing.' I kick Alice from under the table, when I hear her laughing.

'You guys are awful.' I say unbelievably, when we're up in my room again. 'I don't think I've ever heard so many lies in one night.' I conclude, shaking my head. Kat seemed to fall for it though, and honestly, I don't mind that. 'Hey, we helped you. Now she thinks we're all very smart and serious about school.' Ben explains using a formal voice. I imagine it going with an emotionless look on his face.
I hold on to the feeling of having my own group, a place where I belong and quietly listen to Alice, Harry, Matt and Ben as they tell stories about irresponsible things they've done, with a ceaseless smile on my face. It's the best feeling in the world to finally belong.
'Bella?' my thoughts are unexpectedly interrupted by a pillow hitting my head. 'Hey!' I protest, grabbing the pillow which landed on my lap and throwing it away into the group. 'Don't throw stuff at blind people, that's just rude.' I cross my arms over my chest. 'What, aren't you supposed to hear it coming?' Alice giggles. 'How the air moves when the pillow is coming at you?' I raise my eyebrow, not believing what I'm hearing. 'Alice, I'm blind, not a wizard.' Laughter goes around the group and I join them. 'Have you always been..blind?' Matt asks after the laughter fades away. I think of what I told Harry and suddenly feel his hand on my knee. It's as if he wants to tell me, that it's okay, and that I can trust them. So I tell the story like I told Harry, but this time it's easier, knowing that he's sitting next to me. Maybe it's time I finally let someone look into my mind.

'Please don't break it.' I open the front door and listen to the boys coming down the stairs, their hands loaded with equipment. 'Oh god, what are we doing?' I mumble, ticking my fingers against the door impatiently. 'Have a little trust in the people around you, Isabella.' Alice is standing next to me, while she guides the boys outside. 'I'm seriously trying to.' I sigh as we finally make it to the front yard. 'Harry, are you sure you need all this stuff?' Alice teases, 'I mean, you can also just lie down in the grass and look at the sky.'
The look on Harry's face must have been very funny, causing her to laugh out loud. As I hear the others sit down in the grass and chat, I try to follow Harry as he sets up the telescope and everything else he found upstairs. 'I really wish I could see it.' I whisper ''looking'' up at the sky and imagining what it would look like tonight. 'Do you want me to describe it?' Harry responds as he goes through the box. 'Yes, I'd like that.'

Wrote this while listening to the Fault In Our Stars soundtrack (and Long Live by Taylor Swift):) It's kind of been my inspiration for this entire story, though it's not about cancer. I loved the movie so much and the soundtrack is amazing.

Anyway hope you like this chapter. And please tell me what you like about the story and what you don't like in the comment. I'd love to have some feedback:)
