You were mine for the summer.

Its Summer, she's finally back together with her friends after a whole school year. They do what they'll normally do during the summer, hang out and have fun. But this summer is different when she meets him.
Would it be more than a summer fling?

8. Its time to go.

A/N : I sort of fell in love with my own character! Gargggghhh he's so sweet.

The next day we all woke up at around 12am, my flight wasn’t till 8pm so I didn’t have to get to Lagos till about 6pm or thereabouts. Mum had the day off because she was driving me to the airport, we made breakfast and just lounged about the house then there was a knock on the door and it was Tolulope, he looked like he’d been crying or didn’t get any sleep so my first instinct was to give him a hug. I didn’t care at that point that I looked like absolute shit, all I cared about was that he was there. I asked if he wanted to come in but he said he didn’t because he was driving his mum out and he just came over to drop something off for me, it was a box the size of a large canvas and he told me not to look at it till he was gone.

So he gave me a hug and said “safe journey, call me when you reach.” and then just hurried off so I guessed that his mum was probably in the car waiting for him. I didn’t even wait to get back into the room before I ripped open the box I had in my hand, on seeing it I was amazed, it was a picture of me and him at the beach. And what was even more amazing was the fact that he painted it, he painted it over night and it still looked absolutely perfect. He put in so much effort in that painting and it was absolutely beautiful and I was going to cherish it for the rest of my life. When I walked into my room, I held the picture up against my face and everyone awwwwn’ed and woow’ed at how beautiful the picture was. All I could do was smile, they all fussed at the tiny details of the picture, my smile, his smile and the way we were holding hands. They were amazed when I told them that Tolu painted it himself, they all said stuff like “Ohmygod that’s so sweet.” “ahh you’re so lucky.” “he surely has feelings for you.” I just smiled and brushed away their comments.

I went to show mum the picture and the look on her face definitely showed that she was surprised, she then asked if it was handmade and I told her that Tolu made it. She asked for his last name and I told her and immediately she told me where his house was. I wondered how she knew him and then she told me that she once met his mother at church. At first she suggested that I should leave the painting because it might get ruined in transit but then after pleading with her she agreed to pay some money at the airport to ensure that I was gonna be allowed to carry it with me. That made me happy. I went back to my room and sent him a message that read “Tolu thank you so much. I love it, its the best gift I’ve ever received.” he didn’t reply so I guessed he was still driving. I finished packing my luggage and then went to take a shower, got dressed and ready for the trip to Lagos where Tomisin was going to meet me at the airport just because she wanted to see me before I left.

Even after the shower Tolulope’s smell still lingered around me and that just made me miss him more, later on he called and once again I thanked him for the painting and he said “No worries. That’s the least I could at least do.” he sounded sad over the phone but I didn’t wanna say anything about it. We had a very long conversation which lasted all the way through the journey to Lagos but when I got to Lagos I had to hang up because I had to check in all my baggages and we all went to some restaurant to have dinner. We took pictures and walked round the airport since we had time to kill. My flight was at 8pm so I was told to go in at about 7:45pm so I called Tolu once it was 7:30pm to tell him I was about to go and promised to call him once I reached london and he said goodbye. I said goodbye to everyone else and gave everyone a hug before going to board the plane, when I got on the plane I received a message from Tolu and it read “‘Sometimes you can’t say what you feel and you end up hurting people you love eventhough you’re not doing it intentionally.’ Hope you have a safe journey, wishing you the best. I’ll miss you.” the first part of the message was a line from one of his books and it made me smile and tear up a tiny bit because it suited our situation. I didn’t know when next I was going to see him, I didn’t even know for certain if I was ever going to see him ever again. The only thing I knew for certain was that I was in love with him and he certainly had my heart.
