Where is She?

One year ago, David Tate found himself tangled into the mess that was created by his wife, Caroline, who is mentally ill. Just when everything's getting better and Caroline's finally becoming stable, she dissappears, leaving officials, family members, and friends to believe that she was kidnapped by a serial killer known as the X-man.

5. Chapter Four: Missing?

Caroline's pov

I woke up to the sound of the news reporter, with a forecast of thunderstorms all week. There hasn't been any amazing summer weather yet. "In other news Kathleen Mayes, a young mother and wife, was discovered in a dumpster downtown near the Water Tower, after being missing for 6 days. She was sent to the hospital in critical condition and died later that day. Officials say this could be tied with other murders that have happened in the previous months, because of an "X" that was marked on the back of the victim's neck, giving the killer the name X-man. So far thirteen women in their early 20s to early 30s have been killed, with 7 potential victims still missing, each having long dark hair. The Chicago Police Department is urging women to be more careful when outside. I'm Judy Holland and this is breaking news." I swear this city gets more and more dangerous by the second.

I look over to find that David was still sleeping peacefully. I slowly slid out of bed and tiptoed to the door.

I need some fresh air.

David's pov

I woke up early to find my wife not there again. This time I'm scared she might be doing something to hurt herself. Quickly I got up and went to Molly's room, she's probably there. I open the door only to find Molly alone and sound asleep. The twins room! I run down the hallway and open the door, Caroline's not there. I frantically search the bathrooms, office, kitchen, living room, and basement. She's nowhere to be found. I ran back upstairs to check the attic, but there's no sign of her. The last thing I could think of was to check the backyard and garage. I went to the backdoor and found that it was unlocked. "Caroline... Caroline!" I yelled into the darkness. I grabbed the flashlight by the door and flipped it on. There she was asleep on the couch swing. I breathe a sigh of relief and went to go get her. I don't know what I would do if I wouldn't have found her. I carried her back into the house and laid her down on the bed, climbing in next to her.

My eyes started to get heavy as I fell asleep.
