Best Friends with the Redheads

We all know George and Fred Weasleys story. Right? Maybe not. Meet Amber Chelsea, a witch in Fred and George's year. They become best friends, and along with Lee, cause mayhem at Hogwarts. Each adventure leads to another, strengthening their friendship and creating new bonds. And in the end... Who knew that one girl could change everything?

16. Secrets Not Worth Being Kept

It wasn't long before snow lay across Hogwarts like a soft white blanket. It was only a week after finding the map, and we still had barely made a dent in the secrets it holds. I made sure the boys didn't go off exploring with out me, not that we didn't go every night, (along with a few trips to the kitchens). Along with the snow, came snow ball fights and chilly ambushes on the all too cranky Slytherins. The eighth day of our map-exploring started like any other. Almost.

"So, where too next?" I asked. Fred and George convinced me that we should skip class, it was only potions anyway. Poor Lee had caught a cold, again.

"We could go through the passage behind the statue of Gregory the Smarmy" Fred suggested.

I froze, my hands clamped on the map. "What?"

Freds ear tips lit up pink like a colorful Christmas tree. George smacked him across the head. "Umm..."

"How do you guys know its behind the statue? Have you been sneaking off with out me?" I fumed. "And don't you dare bother lying to me!"

      "Well not exactly..." George started.

"We kinda found it during the first week here..." Fred finished.

Something inside me snapped. "And you didn't bother to tell me? Does Lee know?"

"Lee doesn't know, we just kept it to ourselves..."

My hands shook. "Why? I thought we were all best friends, pranking buddies, Are we not good enough for you? I would have told you something like that..." My eyes filled with tears and I turned around.

"Come on Ames, its not like that..." One of the twins said.

"Don't be mad... We should have told you." The other says. I can hear the desperation in their voices, but I ignore them, drop the map and stomp away.

Foot steps sound behind me. "Amber wait!" I start to run.

I reach the Fat Lady. "Horn-sore" I say. I stomp through the portrait hole and up to the girls dormitories. I collapse on my bed and spend the rest of my now free period alone.

The roar of chatter from the Great Hall fills my ears. I head to the Gryffindor table. Fred and George spot me and try to wave me over. I ignore them and sit at the opposite end. They share disappointed looks and that's when I notice Lee, he must be feeling better. He gives me an odd look before turning back to the twins.

The girl who I sat beside turns towards me. "Oh hi! I'm Angelina Johnson, I'm in your year." She says. She has long brown hair. "And this is Alicia Spinnet."

I smile shyly. "Right, I share a dorm with you, right?"

"Yup, but you've always been so busy with the twins that..." She trails off.

I get the feeling that this girl likes to socialize. The other girl, Alicia, pipes up, "Why aren't  you sitting with them now?"

I don't hesitate to answer. "Because their being major gits" Angelina cracks up and I can't help but smile too.

"That does tend to happen." Angelina says, "If you don't feel like hanging around gits today, you can hang around with us."

    I nod. "Why not?"

I end up avoiding the twins all day. They tried getting my attention, (Even letting off a stink bomb in class) but I made a point of talking to Angelina and Alicia. This went on for five days. On the night of the fifth day, I waited for everyone to be asleep before I sneaked out into the common room. I bewitched a bucket of water to dump on the next person to come out of the boys dormitories, then flopped onto a scarlet couch.

Maybe this has gone on a little too long. I still got mad when I thought of it, but the twins must have learned their lesson by-

I hear the splash of water hitting the floor and I instantly turn to face the boys dormitories.

Two soaked Weasley twins stand at the door way, shaking their wet arms.

"Serves you right," I say grumpily.

I hear squeaking footsteps as the twins come towards me. They come around the couch and flop down on either side of me. "Amber, you know we're sorry." George says.

"Its killing us, you not talking to us. Really!" Fred says.

"So we decided on a way to make it up to you" George says.

"Have you now?" I as sarcastically. "And what would that be?"

"Well Lee says that he doesn't want to come fix your girl-anger, so he's not coming-"

"To make it up too you we are..." George says dramatically.

"Going to go blow up toilets!" They say together in unison.
