Falling in love with an outsider (The Outsiders Movella)

My whole life i've grown up as a Soc and i did things that Soc's did. I even made fun of a few Greasers to, but that all changed when i fell for a Greaser.

36. Scholarships

Since we didn't have a car or my bike (like I could fit seven people on there!) we had to take the bus. It wasn't that comfortable having someone sit on top of you. And there's the fact I just had surgery a few days ago. Pony was on my left and a rather large man was on my right, squishing me to death. Every time the bus stopped or jerked the man would lean on me and would make my side hurt more.

Thankfully it was only a ten minute ride from the police station to Pony's house. Now that there was no police swarming the place, I finally saw the place was a quiet little town house. A tiny little town house that needed serious renovation.

The roof shingles were falling off. The lawn needed to be cut along with the quickly growing weeds. Their wire fence had holes bigger than basketballs and was seriously rusted. The paint was peeling off the side of their walls. Over all: it needed a makeover.

But I wasn't going to complain. I knew that the Curtis's didn't have the money to fix it. They were lucky to have this messed up roof over their heads.

Pony showed me in and I sat down on the rotting couch. It was suppose to be a beige but was slowly turning into poo brown. The paint was peeling like it was on the outside. And their was so much dust, you could see the dust balls floating around.

But I still wasn't going to say anything.

Darry came down and sat next to me, "You shouldn't have wasted all your money on us. Now you'll have to get a loan for school, and that will just lead to problems later. Why did you  do it?"

"I will tell you the same thing I told Pony; I wanted to do it. And I won't need a loan, I'll get there with a scholarship. I've always wanted to go to Tulsa University because they have a great medial section. I want to become Tulsa's first female doctor."

Soda came in, "Wow, Carrie never told me that. She's always talking about you."

Carrie came in and jumped on Soda's back, "Are you talking about me? Come on!"

Soda smiled, "Yeah. We were talking about how you always tell me about Belle. You never mentioned that she wanted to be Tulsa's first female doctor!"

Carrie looked over to me, "That's because I never knew!"

I was going to explain myself but there was a knock on the door. I jumped up and went to the door. There was a sweaty little mailman standing in the doorway. "I have a letter to a Miss Carrie Clyde, specially delivered from the other side of town."

I took the letter and nodded a 'thank you'. Carrie came over and took it out of my hands immediately. "Carrie, what is it?"

Carrie's complexion turned pale white. She started shaking. Not with fear or anger but with excitement. She was jumping up and down like when we were little kids. I ran over and took the letter out of her hands.

It said, 'Miss Carrie Thea Clyde, we would like to inform you that you have been accepted to Pittsburgh University with a full-scholarship. We would enjoy if you came to Pittsburgh and join our panther pride. Please respond as soon as possible. Signed, Timothy Turner. Chairman."

"You're going to school in Pittsburgh?!"

Soda stood up, "You're what? Carrie, what is Belle talking about?"

Carrie didn't say anything. She was snapped out of her excitement like she had been shot. Tears began to fall down her cheeks. I took Carrie's and Soda's hand and led them to what looked like a bedroom. I wouldn't let them out until they figured out what top do.

Pony came back in and sat with me. We waited for hours for those two to finish.

Waiting is a very hard thing.
