3. Let it SNO, let it SNO, let it SNO

I stared up at the man from my position on the ground. Or should I say, I stared at his aura. It was a cool forest green, NOT sickly green, like I first thought. I breathed a quick sigh of relief, then concentrated on the man's appearance. He had long, aged white-gray hair tied back in a ponytail, and was wearing a pressed black suit. A pink handkerchief peeked out of his breast pocket, and his dress shoes were polished to a shine. His eyes were a startling shade of purple, almost pink in their lightness. His teeth were bleached white when he smiled at me and said,

"Miss Serenity, what are we going to do with you?" I was speechless for a second. He the heck did this proper old man know my name?

"Who are you?" I asked him, my voice hard and careful as I stood up. He just smiled and started to walk in a circle around me, ignoring my question.

"That was quite the scene you caused. Hard to believe one small girl could cause such anarchy. When was the last time you caused something like that? Five months ago? Six? You were doing so well. What set you off, I wonder?"  I stiffened and glared at the man. He knew about last time? I closed my eyes and shook my head, deciding to play dumb.

"I'm sorry, sir, but you must have me confused with someone else. I have no idea what you are talking about." I spun on my heel and started to walk away when the man stepped in front of me, reminding me of the game I played with the Victim.

"That's not going to work with me, Miss Serenity. It may work with the local law enforcement, but I'm quite a bit smarter than them. If you want to trick me, you're going to have to do a better job than that." I narrowed my eyes at him. He just smiled back, condescending without having uttered a word. I sighed, giving up the dumb pretense. It was getting me nowhere fast.

"Again I ask, who are you?" The man smiled, and held out a hand with a card wedged in between two fingers.

"My name is Sir Monte Petronella, and I'm with an organization called SNO. It stands for SuperNatural Organization." I cocked an eyebrow, and crossed my arms, ignoring the hand holding the card.

Really, they couldn't come up with a better name than that? And Sir Monte Petronella? Could that name sound anymore pretentious? Reality snorted in my mind. I completely agreed.

"And what does this SNO do?" I asked.

"We take in kids with supernatural abilities and train them to use their abilities correctly. If you came with me, I can guarantee that that will never happen again." This time it was my turn to snort. With Reality the way he was, that was almost certain to happen again, but I wasn't about to tell Him that.

"And are you suggesting I join you?" Sir Petronella just smiled. I stayed quite, thinking. Unfortunately, Reality didn't.

Are you seriously considering this? We don't need to go with him, we're fine on our own. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

You can't be serious, I thought. We're on the streets, Reality. We need all the help we can get.

Well, I don't trust him.

Neither do I, but let's see what he has to offer.

"Well, Miss Serenity?" I smiled.

"Sir Monte Petronella, you've got yourself a new student."
